Overview
More
Descend into the depths of Onondaga Cave State Park and drop into a world of wonder: towering stalagmites, dripping stalactites, and active flowstones help make the cave a National Natural Landmark and illustrate why Missouri is often called “The Cave State.” Visitors can take guided tours into the underground wonderland. But if you prefer the surface, the park’s Vilander Bluff Natural Area provides a panoramic view of the Meramec River. Easy access to the Meramec River allows visitors to canoe or fish in a bucolic setting.

This park is relatively close to my home, so I visit multiple times throughout the year. Onondaga Cave is the obvious centerpiece of the park, but the trails looping through the hills and rock formations are spectacular. The cave has been covered in specific reviews,...More

Onondaga campground is a very pretty spot for camping. This is a beautiful state park. The bathrooms and showers are clean with hot water. There are plenty of trails for hiking. There is an outfitter near the park if you want to do a float...More

Cave is great, but the campground is disappointing. The area does flood in high water, but I wish the state would develop the ground on the hills near the cave with nice 2 bedroom one bath cabins with bbq grill, covered porch with table and...More

The cave tour was good. It took us about two hours. The lily pad room was the highlight of our trip although it was a little strenuous getting there. This part is optional though but I would recommend it if you are able. The kids...More

Took the grandkids camping to watch the eclipse. It was a hot August weekend but we had a great time. We floated the river, explored Cathedral cave and watched the eclipse from the gravel bar just out from our camp. Campgrounds were fairly nice, shower...More

We recently visited the cave because it was more reasonably priced than the more well known cave. It was incredibly beautiful. It takes about an hour to walk through. I am 67 and had no problem with the changes in elevation. The guides are very good...More

Onondaga Cave State Park is one of Missouri's natural wonders. Tours give plenty of understandable information about the formation of caves, the creatures that live in them and how fragile the underground ecosystem is. Worthwhile trip for older teenagers and adults. Beautiful scenery inside the...More

I did not see any bike trails, other than walking trails. The roads into the park are hilly and narrow with no shoulders, so not ideal for biking. Trail bikes might have some success, but it could be rough going for touring... More

I've never floated while staying there but Ozark Outdoors is right across the river from the campground and offered rentals. Their campground is nice and everything looks clean so you might give them a try.
