Walt first came to Marceline by train when he was five years old. The Santa Fe train arrived at the depot that preceded the present-day one, which was rebuilt in 1913.

When Walt returned to Marceline for the first time in 1946, the depot evoked his first memories of pulling into Marceline. So it is fitting that the museum dedicated to one of the most influential persons of the last century is housed in this restored Santa Fe Depot.

Dreaming tree is also not available to visited anymore after a lost battle to disease and lightning. Spring break is too early to stop in Marceline except to see the train engine on display, pretty blue pond and fountain in the park behind the museum.

We took a road trip from Boston to California and back and made a point to stop at Marceline, MO to visit the Disney Hometown Family Museum. We got a special tour of the museum by the nicest lady who met Walt when she was younger. She was very knowledgeable about all of the original pieces of Disney history. I... More

This was the second visit for me and the first for my wife. The museum collection has expanded over the last few years. The highlight is hearing Inez recount the Disney family visits to Marceline. If you want to learn more about Walt's childhood and Main Street USA, this is the place.

I highly recommend visiting this museum. It has many very interesting letters, pictures and artifacts from the Disney family. You can also drive by the home where Walt lived and don't miss the barn and Dreaming tree.

We visited this train station not knowing what to expect. The curators help bring the displays to life. They lived through the time that the displays represent. Much of the museum lives because they are there. This is not a Disney owned museum, it's his neighborhood creating one with the families approval and help. I enjoyed learning about the mans... More

This is a guided tour at the beginning and the ladies tell some wonderful stories. When she is done you then can go look around on your own on the two levels. If you like trains then you will see alot, as they pass by a couple times an hour or more. They have a wonderful full story of Walt's... More

We were doing some blue highway touring down US36. Camping How could we resist this little town whose memories for a young Walt Disney influenced him forever. His image of main street from this period in time and place We were glad they had this great museum in a nice old depot. Good museum and well worth visiting
