This is the cutest and nicest district with the longest restored main street I have ever seen. We enjoyed all of the nice shops and they were all decorated for fall. Kudos to the Chamber or whoever is in charge of maintaining the historic flavor...More

Typical historical place with lots of commercialization and shops full of interesting but useless overpriced junk that women love to visit. Uneven brick streets and walks add to the decor. Not as bad as the Wisconsin Dells, but not as good as Galena, Illinois.

Tons to do, eat, drink and see in Historic St.Charles! So rich in history! We stayed at the Guest House and it was a gem! Walk the park or the sidewalks along the brick streets. Fun for all ages!

Quaint old river town. Main Street is a brick street lined with historic buildings that now serve as restaurants, bars, and shops. Fun place to eat and to shop.

Our airB&B was near the east end of Main Street where the shops and buildings are not as remodeled as the west end. Still, there were unique shops to visit if it weren't Saturday evening and Sunday morning. Oktoberfest was in full swing, so we...More

We have eaten on the outskirts of St Charles many times but have never gone into town. What a beautiful historic area with lots of nice shops and places to eat. Great bike shops and parks also.

Parking can be tight but what an amazing stroll up and down Main St! Cute shops, delightful eateries with patio seating, dog-friendly, historical stops, and a bonus of vendors along the riverfront. We visited both Saturday and Sunday to see all we wished. Good times!

I don't care what time of year it is, their is always something special going on at the St Charles Historical Downtown Riverfront. Most of us who live nearby take this beautiful river front town for granted not realizing how far others must travel to...More

St. Charles is an interesting river town, approximately 20-30 minutes of St. Louis. The historic area has brick streets, lots of shops, bars, and restaurants. I was there once in December, when folks dressed in Charles Dickens era costumes, performed in the streets, amid fire...More

There are many fairs and festivals through out the year but even on regular days, old town is a wonderful place to walk. The charm of the cobblestone roads combines with eclectic, artsy and craft stores makes a great place to visit and some of...More

Sorry. I do not know which bar that could be. Maybe call the Chamber of Commerce (636-946-0633) or the Visitors Bureau (800-366-2427)

In the historic district, many of the shops are older, with steps up and some narrow aisles. My recollection tells me there may not be many stores that are easily accessible with a scooter. Hope that helps.

Not most, but some. Many of the stores on the west side of main street are in buildings constructed in the 1800s, with stairs leading up from the sidewalks & sometimes narrow store spaces packed with merchandise. Some of... More
