Small, but interesting

$4 - very small home, but still lots of history with interesting information. Takes about 30 minutes or less to get through.

Since their houses were smaller back then we knew it would be a tight fit, but I wish they wouldn't allow so many people in there at once. There are still blood stains on the floor from Jesse James and original artifacts too! Well worth the extra and it is right outside the Patee House Museum.

Although not in its original location, this is the home where Jesse James was murdered by one of his gang members as they were planning another bank robbery. Jesse was standing on a chair adjusting a needlepoint hanging when he was shot from the back. You can see the location of the bullet hole that came through and was allegedly... More

Very detailed where he lived his last 100 days of his life. Very informative that this was really him, by using DNA evidence when it came available.

We found ourselves in the area and walked over after the Pony Express Museum. It was a tiny (basically) three-room museum but it was interesting to see the house and some artificers. The staff member shared some interesting lore that was mentioned in the displays, but we may have missed it if it weren't for her comments. Very good museum... More

This museum was just ok. I mean it's worth the trip if your in town but not so much worth driving out of your way for. Staff was friendly and the played a little audio to describe what went down. This house has. Even moved onsite from its original place, which we visited before. I think it would have been... More

We enjoyed seeing this house as a piece of St. Joe history. The man working at the museum was knowledgeable and we enjoyed chatting with him. There's also an audio recording overhead which is helpful and informative.
