The outside of the Basilica doesn't hint at the glorious interior. The Basilica is smaller than European cathedrals, but no less amazing in artistry. The interior may literally take your breath away. Entry is free. This is a perfect place to stop and spend some time first admiring the art and then soaking in the tranquility.

I'm from about 3 hours from St. Louis and traveled there many times throughout my life but hadn't ever been to the cathedral. After the arch and the city museum if you have kids, this would be my next recommendation if spending time in StL. It's beautiful and really shocking if you aren't sure what to expect going into it.

The Basillica in the Central West End section of St. Louis is a must. The shear beauty of the interior will take your breath away. It is reminiscent of the centuries old churches in Europe, and rivals them for their splendor. Wirds fall short - you have to witness it to appreciate it.

Decided to stop in after seeing the reviews. It certainly did not disappoint! It was far more spectacular in person than we imagined. Check the calendar online for schedules when planning a visit.

That was incredible... and free. It was much more than I expected and simple awesome. It was interesting that the artwork was put in over such a long period of time... and that the different artists displayed different techniques and themes to their artwork.

The Cathedral Basilica is a must stop when you come to St. Louis. The Cathedral boasts one of the largest collections of mosaics in the country. A small museum in the basement illustrates the art form in detail, step by step. Docent led tours are available on Sunday after the 12 noon Mass. Docents may be available during the weekdays... My family is catholic, but I am not; so even if you do not visit this place to worship, it is certainly a place to see. The story of the tiny tiles that form the images is beautiful ( about a dad and his son)

A beautiful cathedral in the heart of St. Louis. We went on a Tuesday and it was not busy. Stunning mosaic tiles and architecture. Worth the trip.

The Basillica was, simply put, beautiful. We stayed for Saturday evening mass and we were very glad we did. Whether you're Catholic or not this is a must see.

This is a most magnificent cathedral! The mosaics will take your breath away! There is a Mosaic Museum downstairs and a gift shop as well. This is not to be missed when visiting St. Louis
