Recently went on a tour of the library. I was with a walking group but individuals can also arrange for a tour of the facility. With the docent, you got lots of facts and information - it was very interesting.

We had some time before a wedding on a recent Saturday and we were within walking distance. What a special building. We had a very nice tour guide and enjoyed both the temporary exhibition in the main hall and the beautifully detailed restoration of the building itself. You won't be disappointed. The tour guide really added to the experience.

Like most main library branches, ours does not disappoint. I have found better research materials here than in come collegiate libraries. It's also very quiet, lots of places to hang out away from people, large meeting rooms, there's also a production studio where you can book time to create things, and the architecture is a good mesh of antique (West... The architecture of this stunning library designed by Cass Gilbert is a wonder. The library is sensational. We attended an architectural lecture that was so informative. The lecture is part of a series on architecture around the world. It is always on the last Tuesday evening of the month. This particular lecture was about endangered buildings in St. Louis, and... My family of four (two daughters, ages 11 & 9) made a quick stop at the Central Public Library after our afternoon visit to City Museum. I think it is absolutely worth it from an architectural and historical perspective. The building was renovated in 2012 and is gorgeous, especially the great hall. It simply gives insight into the design aesthetics... More

The St. Louis Central Public library is located in a beautiful restored building on Olive. The building is a bit over 100 years old. There is wonderful wood work, statuary, stained glass, and ceiling work scattered throughout the building. There is exhibition space in the library, and we were fortunate enough to catch the St. Louis Blues exhibit. Lots of... More

Recently renovated, make sure you see all the floors. Beautiful stained glass on third floor. Basement ceiling has literary quotes in the panels plus tree forts for kids to read in. Now handicapped accessible, this is a must see for bibliophiles.

A private tour led by a library docent is a fascinating peek into St. Louis' history and an enlightening view of the $70 million renovation that the library underwent several years ago. The St. Louis Central Public Library looks like a magnificent art museum. Each wing has a different style of beautiful hand-painted ceiling. The rooms on each side of... More

You will love this place even if you don't like libraries. Its the best in the country. I wished I had a library like this when I was kid. I would lot smarter.
