With views of the scenic Current River and a history as a corporate retreat, Current River State Park offers a peaceful haven for today’s visitor. The park is built around the former retreat of the Alton Box Board Co. of Alton, Ill. Constructed during the late 1930s and early 1940s, the Alton Club buildings themselves reflect the rustic architectural style used by the National Park Service in the early part of the 20th century. Today’s visitors to Current River State Park can enjoy hiking trails, two lakes and picnic sites. Park staff provides tours of the historic Alton Club buildings and explains the park’s history.

This is always a fun river to float, either a raft or canoe....we have used both. It is especially beautiful in the fall. The colorful autumn foliage is outstanding

The road is so bad we had a flat tire and no phone service for AT&T or Verizon for Help. No one around the park. Nothing excessible. Rediculious park with sooo much potential.

Stopped by this Park to see if we could fish but the road was so rough we were scared that we would damage our SUV.

This is the least welcoming State Park I've been to in MO and I've been to well over 60 of them (of the 88) at the time of this review. We visited Mother's Day weekend 2016 as we were camping at nearby Pulltite. We drove...More

The drive into park is a long one on a gravel road. As you approach the park, it is a beautiful entranceway with stone features & a peaceful lake view. As you pass by the lake, views of the Current River peek through the trees....More

Construction workers were working hard to finish up several new information kiosks and getting the park ready for general use by the end of August (their estimate). The park is open but the buildings are locked up. I was there on a weekday. There may...More
