This is worth the stop to look around the capital. There is beautiful architecture and artwork in the building. There are a number of original Charlie Russell painting that are well worth the visit alone.

If you have time to tour the Montana State Capitol it will be worth your time. The interior was remodeled in 2001-2002 back to as close to original as possible. And as the great grandson of one of the architects and local resident, I know...More

The architecture and design is stunning. Tiled floors, stained glass windows, ornate domes, it is almost breath-taking to see how beautiful this building is. Not to mention all the history behind it, or the CM Russell painting.

Went here for business and had never been to the capitol before. Very interesting, and something everyone should experience for themselves.

I love visiting state capitol buildings, and this was no exception. Free to enter, and a free brochure offers a self guided tour. A great way to spend an hour or two learning about Montana's political history.

What a magnificent building, worthy of a beautiful State. We were able to tour quietly by ourselves, enjoying particularly the stained glass windows, and peeping into the main rooms. The view from the first floor are spectacular. Wheelchair friendly too.

I like to drive up to the capitol and eat my lunch in a little park there and look at the building. I love to look at architecture and this is great

A state captiol, mostly business related buildings, allot of official stuff going on and worse than normal traffic. Interesting displays around and things to see on the grounds but not really worth the Hassel.

I stayed in Helena, MT on a Saturday and Sunday Sept. 30-Oct. 1, leaving Oct. 2. There were no tours available and the only taxi service in town was run by a rude older man. When I asked if I could have a short tour...More

It is a beautiful building, but the tour guides have been laid off during the budget crunch so you can only do self guided tours with a small hand out. Still worth looking at if you are in the area.

You need to go to the capital's website for this info, they do not hold session every year.
