We set out to explore the Bitterroot area and wound up driving SR 12 through the Lolo Pass alongside the Lochsa River for hours. Idaho should be commended for providing and maintaining the many trail heads along this road, including several bridges that cross over the Lochsa. The river is stunning. We have rafted and fished and seen many fantastic... More

Those who love the history of Lewis and Clark will love this exhibit. It is quick & easy to go through and easy to find. There is a nice hands on display which children and adults (those I was with) also can enjoy.

Took to LOLO Trail so I could finish a scavenger hunt I was on. I had to stop and read all the signs and fill in the hunts words and phrases. It was the most fun snd enjoyable ride I was on. It took a few hours then I stopped at a restaurant on top of the pass to eat.... More

A 4-wheel drive vehicle is necessary to travel this Lewis and Clark "highway". The views are spectacular and the terrain is the same as was experienced by Lewis and Clark's "Corp of Discovery" over 200 years ago.

Spending the long winter months looking over maps and trying to come up with places that we could ride our Polaris RZR and camp with our RV, I came up with Lolo Pass area (Hwy12) Montana, we settled on Lee Creek Campground and found it to be a beautiful gem and very accessible to logging roads that we could take... This is where the Corps of Discovery almost starved to death trying to get over the mountains. We had an easier time of it, thanks to nicely maintained trails. Most of our group opted for horseback (with a few mules thrown in) to get to the top. We chose to walk, hoping to see more that way. We were certainly... More

Hiking this trail was like taking a trip back in time and walking in the footsteps of Lewis and Clark and the Nez Perce. If you are interested in the Lewis and Clark expedition, hike this trail. It has been kept as true to original form as possible. It is steep, slippery, and a tough hike, but worth it. I... More

Made a trip up to Lolo Pass, the weather and scenery was gorgeous! There are different trails to walk on and wild life is everywhere! The animals are so fun to watch and photograph. Inside is a small "museum" telling the history of the area and the Indians. It was all very informative. They had a TV running documentaries on... More

We never get tired of driving up through the Lolo Pass. The scenery reminds us we are living in a very beautiful part of the United States. The streams on the way up and down are so relaxing to watch. Take a few minutes to get out and enjoy nature. The visitors center at the top of Lolo Pass is... More
