We had a great time sifting through the gravel. My eyesight isn't as good as it use to be but I still found some sapphires to make it great day of fun. I look forward to going back in the summer and checking out the mountain.

If there was a place for stars on friendly and helpful workers I would give them six stars they were great. My wife and I spent a lot of money on small buckets of gravel mixed with sapphires and yes I said mixed They premix the bags so that everyone can find stones. So they only put in the less... More

My husband and I had an hour to kill in Philipsburg before heading to the airport. After reading about sapphire mining, we decided to give it a try. We stumbled upon Gem Mountain and had a fabulous time. The staff is incredibly helpful in educating you on what to look for and how to approach your sack of potential gems.... More

The mine was closed for the season but the store is open 7 days a week from 12-5. For $25 you can buy a gravel bucket & go gem hunting here. If you are lucky to find something they will make it into jewelry for a fee. The store has very unique gifts & handcrafted items. The staff were very... More

It was a great experience. Travis was very helpful getting us started and making sure I didn't screw up cleaning the gravel too much.

First off actual mines were closed for the season, however the in town store was a blast! Workers were awesome!! And fun!! I found 4 sapphires worth heating and cutting. However that was in 3 buckets. I will order a few more to have shipped to my home during the cold winter months back home in PA and continue my... More

We bought two buckets of sapphire mine gravels and had a ball searching for sapphires. Found lots of itty bitty fragments for a total of 28 carats. Was a little disappointed that I couldn't do something with them there. They try to sell you on paying money to send them off to Sri Lanka and it could take up to... More

This is my 2nd visit. Had a great time. Did 2 Mega jugs and several buckets of dirt. Staff is helpful & courteous. We love the mountain crisp clean air and the adventure of finding sapphires washing the dirt. Found 4 - over 3 karat sapphires & bag of peridots.

Very nice and friendly staff. We spent about an hour washing gravel and collecting sapphires. Found quite a few. Fun adventure.
