This refuge sports turkeys, ospreys, deer, and lots of other raptors, birds, and waterfowl. The hard gravel road spans about 8 miles north of Stevensville, MT. There are a couple of parking lots with adjacent hiking trails that lead through various parts of the refuge....More

Beautiful views and a nice trail for anyone..with a nice viewing area with ducks..plenty of deer osprey and sometimes turkeys coming in to refuge...catails are taking over this refuge they need to be cut back..geese and ducks are also there...we watched the great blue herons...More

The Lee Metcalf Refuge is a great place to walk for exercise. The trails are well marked and suitable for all activity levels.

The Lee Metcalf near Stevensville, MT is not that large that you can see it all within an hour. Wildlife depends on the time of the year and is best at early mornings and dusk. The walk back to the Bitterroot River is nice.
