This magical forest is off the beaten path. To reach it, follow MT56 to just south of Bull Lake. Turn west on Forest Road 398 and follow it 4.3 miles to the parking lot at the end. NF-398 is narrow and winds up the mountains,...More

RCC (Ross Creek Cedars) is a great place for a day hike, or a cool walk in the woods. There are tall hundred year old cedars there that are amazing to see. Take the time for a side trip to the cedars, it is so...More

I take all my friends here when they visit me and Sandpoint Idaho. It's a lovely day trip with beautiful scenery along the way. Going to Ross Creek Cedars is like going to church for me.

This is the place that my husband has wanted to see forever! It is well worth the walk and time - easy walk for anyone. The drive (one lane only) to the parking lot is one that warrants caution as some people driving it are...More

We stopped in Troy, Mt visitors center and was told about this place! I am glad we stopped. Beautiful walk through the cedars. Informative and enjoyed the walk with our dog.

Watch for the sign or you might miss it! Only four miles off the highway, good road into the cedars. It's just so quiet and smells so good. You'll be tipping your head upwards for the duration.

The only other time I have been to see such a big old growth forest is the California Redwoods. They are not quite as big but the smell and serenity will transport you back to a more sedate time.

We took a side trip to this park from Hwy 2 near Troy. Best part besides the big cedars was we saw deer in the forest on the trail. A bit like a fairy tale. 5 miles single lane paved road from the highway.
