Yellowstone Alpen Guides has operated small group and private tours in Yellowstone for 29 years. Our naturalist/guides are experts in all things Yellowstone and are fun travel companions. They will help you experience the extraordinary wonders the Park has to offer during both winter and summer. Small group size guarantees you a personalized touch not found on most tours. A company with experienced long-term employees, we pay close attention to detail and quality and strive to be the premier guiding company in Yellowstone and the surrounding area. Join us as we explore this delicate ecosystem that is home to Old Faithful and two-thirds of the world’s geysers; where grizzly bears, wolves and other abundant wildlife roam freely. We cater to individuals, families with children and groups of all sizes. We have lodging and tour packages available; one call will take care of your Yellowstone vacation planning needs. Winter snowcoach tours operate daily to Old Faithful and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. We offer the option of cross-country skiing or snowshoeing on our trips, and customized charters are also available. We provide shuttle services to guests staying at the Old Faithful Snow Lodge, and offer charter service to the North* (Mammoth/Gardiner) and South* (Jackson Hole) gates of the Park. Our snowcoaches are the classic, historical bombardiers, modernized for comfort and low emissions, made for over-snow travel. Summer tours include Lower Loop, Evening Wildlife Safaris, kayak tours and private customized tours to meet your desires. Whether you are a first time Yellowstone visitor or are returning for your next adventure, we can help plan your itinerary. Your trip can include things like wildlife watching, a day hike to a backcountry geyser basin, a photography safari, swimming in a thermally heated river, and seeing the sites that make Yellowstone America’s grandest Park. Alpen Guides believes it is important to protect and preserve our national treasures. We generously donate to the worthy Yellowstone Park Foundation, the West Yellowstone Foundation, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Trout Unlimited, and many other organizations dedicated to protecting the environment.

This tour is worth your time! Don Mckiney came to pick us up at Hiday inn at 12:30. A smiling face and so many stories! We loved it. We stopped at all interesting spits and wherever we saw wildlife. Don had no problem pulling into extra rest stops and always had an interesting point to make! Only 12 people in... More

Our guide Don was very knowledgeable about every aspect of the park we were seeing. We were able to make numerous stops for the animals that presented them selves along the way. These were in addition to the regular stops for the thermal features and of course Old Faithful being the main attraction. The tour made for a long day with the early... Went to Yellowstone March 15, 2017 and we all had an absolute blast. Took my 3 and 5 year old who are both usually quite fidgety, but with the combination of awesome scenery, the "bomb" vehicle, Old Faithful and all the up close animals, they were enthralled during the whole trip. John is a great guide and really made the... More

Have visited Yellowstone NP nine times with family in winter. Much more interesting with snow cover and fewer people than summer. See more wild life with snow background and geyser steaming in cold. Used Alpen Guides for first time. Will use them again, and request Don McKinsey as guide. The most informative of any of my previous visits using a... More

We had a terrific time on Snowmobiles. New machines, experienced guides and 112 mile trip from West Yellowstone to Fishing Bridge and back. A fair price, well organized. No complaints. Be prepared to be amazed. The Park: What a place! We have done winter trips there before, it is my favorite. This should be on your bucket list if it... More

My wife and I took one trip to Old Faithful on a Bombardier Snow coach, and a second tour the following day, this time in one of their snow coaches that drives on huge super wide wheels--which took us up on a Canyon tour. Both were a lot of fun, each for their own reasons. The Bombardier was really old... More

The Old Faithful Biscuit Basin Snowcoach Tour was the perfect way to take in a winter day in Yellowstone park. Riding in a refurbished 1955 Bombardier, we saw elk, bison, and coyotes galore as well as a baldheaded eagle. Our guide, Chris, was phenomenal--energetic, knowledgeable, accommodating, and quite funny. We chose to do the snowshoe trip, and Chris helped us... More
