Visit or stay this is it. Yes this can be both but you will enjoy either way. With us we needed a place to stay while traveling in this our 41st of our 50-State Quest. We were running out of time and thought maybe we miscalculated in where to pull in for the night. That's when we found this historic... More

2 adults camped 5 nights in a 5th wheel w/ 2 dogs. Electric only, but the beauty and quiet made up for scrimping on water. Story boards are good but Visitor Office has 2 good books on the history. Just $25/night, restrooms w/ showers are OK and need upgrading but were clean.

An old military fort where you can feel the history as you walk through the different areas of this large park. There is a lot to see and do here.

The fort is managed by Nebraska Game and Parks and is a couple of miles west of Crawford, NE, right on US route 20. Surrounded by sandstone bluffs, it's a large complex (22,000 acres) with living quarters, administrative buildings, stables and assorted outbuildings. The fort started as a military camp in 1874, although most of the buildings date from the... More

We decided to stop here on our way to the Black Hills and are so glad we did! My husband and I and our two 7 year old sons stayed here for two nights in late June. We stayed in one of the Officer's Quarter's duplexes. The park itself is spread out in an interesting setting, with meadows, trees, historic... More

While I think I know something about American history, each time I visit an historical location, I find I know less and less. I had no idea Ft Robinson was an active location as late as 1948, or that the buildings would be so well kept, or that there were mammoth skeletons in one of the museums, or that there... More

This park was a bit of a disappointment. If you like horses, go there. We thought the fort was more about the Crazy horse time. The museum movie was interesting and we learned a great deal about history. It might be a great place to rent a cabin or room, which we weren't interested in.

If you are traveling in this area or interested in western history this is an IT IS A MUST SEE! Fort Robinson is a very historic place in western US history. If you have seen western movies, you have seen (or heard) this Fort referenced. The entire Park is rich in history and very well documented, preserved and displayed. Yes... More

For any interested in the history in Crazy Horse and his period come here and see where he ended his days in suspicious circumstances. This fort also has an interesting military history that you can discover in the museum before it became a state park after the war. Various old building with period contents around the parade ground can be... More

Planned to visit the Trailside museum and had no idea the extent of the park and its historical buildings. All was well maintained. Barracks (more like small duplex houses) were repurposed for overnight stays. Drove around to look at the officers quarters. It was a nice place to chill since it was a hot day and there were plenty of... More
