The church, welcome center, and surrounding areas are calming and peaceful. The volunteers at the center are gracious and helpful. They offer beautiful, religious items in their gift shop. The view from the church is amazing. You can see it from Interstate 80. I am so glad I stopped!

A very restful, spiritual experience. it was wonderful to see young families, couples and seniors while visiting. The chapel with the Holy Family etched in glass,Stations of the Cross, and peaceful simplicity, is a take time to stop. You do have 1.3 miles of dirt road which was easy driving.

I am not catholic, but appreciate the spirit I feel when I am in holy places. The structure is beautiful and the grounds are so peaceful even being so close to the freeway. It took us a year to go see this (not sure why) but it's a nice little stop right off the freeway. I love the meaning behind... More

Absolutely beautiful landscaping. Plenty of places to sit in nature. The shrine itself is peaceful, cooled/heated. So beautiful!

Found this place on way back to Omaha. Remarkable construction. Beautiful story of several people called to build. Serene prairie grass, gentle breezes, flowers, thoughts of the Divine Holy Family. Then the alarming and brain splitting sonic attack of the hell spawn know as cicada.. Love this shrine.. A must stop for all.

The Shrine exceeded my expectations. The babbling brook that flows beneath the rock, gorgeous foliage and peaceful setting was incredible. Volunteers were friendly and the step by step explanation of it's conception on the wall is nothing short of a miracle.

A gorgeous church! Not far outside Omaha, and just a beautiful setting. Worth the drive - bonus if you are Catholic! I'm not Catholic, but I guess their weekly mass is Saturday. Closes early (5?), so plan it after a day at the Safari Zoo.

If you're passing by Gretna, Nebraska on Interstate 80, do yourself a favor and stop in to this oasis of peace. No matter your faith, or lack thereof, you'll find something to appreciate here, even if it's just the architecture, the beauty of the natural surroundings, or the butterflies. We stopped here on a recent family road trip and were... More

This shrine can be seen from the freeway, but it's worth stopping to see up close. There's a beautiful garden pathway from the parking lot. We saw it at dusk, which made for some really beautiful pictures.
