A ghost town with real character, the town of Rhyolite was founded in 1904 due to what many believed to be a rich strike of ore, but alas, was not meant to be.

Located just outside Beatty this 19000's gold ghost mine area was full of surprises. Worth a few minutes of your time to explore and definitely stop at the unique museum.of sculptures.

Note: I am not a ghost town enthusiast, my destination was Death Valley. In my opinion this place isn't worth going out of your way to see. It's just a collection of run down buildings surrounded by barbed wire fences. Some are labeled providing context...More

Must see to photograph and for those who love ghost towns. Tip- do a little research about the building before you go. There is very little signage or writing history. Also if visiting Death Valley check the weather in Beatty. In Rhyolite it was 30...More

We just happened by, and decided to pull in. Was an old gold mine back in the day. Little museum on site, and a quick tour worth the drive off the road. Stop and take a look.

Worth the stop on the way to Death Valley. If the museum is open be sure to check it out. Rhyolite is a querky place but fun to walk around.

I’ve lived in Nevada for over 40 years. When my husband was alive, we used to visit and photograph Nevada ghost towns. So I have seen many ruins of former glory days. Sometimes they are just a wide spot in the road, sometimes a few...More

Stopped here on way to Death Valley, was a bit disappointed really. Was expecting more apart from a couple of ruins.

There are historic photos displayed showing the people who lived here in 1907. A vibrant, bustling town and then look at the buildings in front of you. You can walk among the ruins - and imagine. It made me wonder....I have been to other ghost...More

I always wanted to visit this place. The classic what I call ghost guardian angel that stands by the bicycle has always intrigued me. It appears to me to be an angelic presence that looks over wanderers and travelers out in the ghost town, helping...More

We stopped off here on our way from Death Valley to Las Vegas. There aren’t many buildings left but I’m glad we stopped off and if you’ve never been to a Ghost Town I would recommend it.

Rhyolite is a Ghost Town, in ruins. Stagecoach Inn & Casino In Beatty just down the road, has a Dennys. Other restaurants are along the way.
