If you have not participated in a New Year's morning First Hike sponsored by the National Association of State Parks, you are missing a great time and place. Your reward for not sleeping off a hangover is to get out to a state park fresh...More

We noticed this state park en-route to Red Rock Canyon so on the way back called in. I must admit on passing it initially I thought it was a ranch where one could hire horses - silly me! Anyway we decided to call in &...More

We stopped there with a tour... they have a large house on it, a few cows but nothing there is actually a ranch. We didn't do the hikes or anything else but this is one place to take a pass on, there's plenty of other...More

We went for the water, but the pond was drained. They did not mention this at the entrance where we paid. We made do with the hiking trail, but so much was off limits that we felt restricted in where we could go. It was...More

Grab a picnic and head out to Spring Mountain State Ranch. It’s a worthwhile outing from a hot Las Vegas. Sheltered past the Red Rock Canyon National Park, this State Park (like many of Nevada’s State Parks) is almost a hidden gem. Once associated with...More

What makes this place interesting are the previous owners: Actress Vera Krupp and millionaire Howard Hughes. The rooms inside the house are interesting by being furnished just old enough to be vintage (especially the kitchen with old fashioned stove and refrigerator). Outside offers a green...More
