Very cool day hike, we did this in mid August. The hike is pretty easy for the most part, little elevation gain, most of the time you walk along lower echo lake and eventually reach the smaller lake, upper echo lake. This is a nice...More

We took the boat from Echo Chalet across to trail then hiked back. Or you can hike and take boat back or hike out and back. It's $14 per person one way which is pretty spendy. Oh well! Great scenery!

We walked Echo Lakes on a bright and sunny, early November day. Apparently it gets crowded in the summer, but on the day we visited, we only met a few other people and pooches on the trail. In the summer, there is a water taxi...More

After sitting in construction traffic attempting to get to Emerald Bay, we decided to head the opposite way to Echo Lakes trail. It was a crazy drive, hairpin turns, narrow roads, but led to a parking lot with restrooms and access to the Echo Lake...More

We decided to take the water taxi to upper lake and hike back to the chalet. It was a very nice and not difficult hike, with beautiful views of the lake along the way. There is some shade, especially in the beginning, but considerable exposure...More

I love, love, love this trail. My husband and I hiked everyday for an entire week in Lake Tahoe and we came back to this trail for a second time. The first time we went to the taxi area and back. It is 5 miles...More

This is a great family trail high above Lake Tahoe. Easiest way to visit Aloha Lake is via water taxi from Echo Bay.... $14/person each way. The boat ride is fun and is a relaxing end to a beautiful hike.

I've enjoyed hiking here several times. The nice thing is that if you bite off a bit longer hike than you can 'chew', you can plan on taking the boat ride back. We brought our daughter, her hubby and their two kids, and we did...More
