The Strip

About
Stretching for over 4.2 miles, the most famous entertainment destination in the U.S. showcases an eclectic collection of mega hotels and resorts, glitzy casinos, lavish shopping malls, and Michelin-starred restaurants.
The best way to enjoy the Strip is to stroll down the avenue and marvel at free spectacles like the dancing fountains of Bellagio and the erupting volcanoes of The Mirage. Or rest your legs by joining an open-top bus tour that cruises down the boulevard. For a more adventurous experience, splurge on a luxurious helicopter tour for a bird’s eye view of Las Vegas’ iconic landmarks. – Tripadvisor

- Nayeli VazquezAmsterdam, The Netherlands224 contributionsAlways funIt is great to be in the strip (better at night) it's just fun to see all the massive hotels (majority themed) and venture to them for a bit before going back again and walking to the next hotel. We purchase the monorail ticket which is not a bad idea to go from your hotel to one extreme of the Strip and backward but you better be prepared for walking. We travel in cold December and although you can (mostly) cross from one hotel to the other within the hotels I believe is better to walk from the outside so do take a thick jacket.Visited December 2022Written 22 December 2022
- Betty J21 contributionsCelebrating my birthdayWhat can you say if you want to see any and everything visit Las Vegas. I enjoyed it because you could go to different hotels and is though you in another country I visit Paris, New York, Rome and Italy all in one day. If you want to get the full picture of Las Vegas strip you need to have a plan choose certain days that you want to see every hotel is a resort within itself. The food the shopping but most of all the people watching. But like everything be cautious of your surrounding because we are talking Las Vegas.Visited December 2022Travelled with familyWritten 26 December 2022
- katieknox29 contributionsOverpricedIf you plan a trip to Vegas... everything is Ridiculously Overpriced. These are American $. So another 40% needs to be added being a Canadian. Just give you some idea of what we spent so far; Coffee $5 each is now $7 Canadian. Plain toasted bagel $8 is now $12 cdn Cold Turkey Sandwich $12 is now $15 Chinese Food minimum of $20 is 28 cdn a dish. Eg,,a rice dish. Who eats just rice!! So we had 3 dishes. 2 Burgers Fries with drinks $62 is $75 cdn Etc. Taxi for a 5 min ride $18 Parking $18 per day $26 cdn $35 extra dollars for hotel fees per night that is added to your bill. $42 cdn Thank God we never flew here and only cost us $40 or so in gas !! We are snowbirds in Arzonia I know it's a tourist attraction...it's my 3rd trip here and will be out last !!Visited December 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 December 2022
- LorynLoves Park, Illinois14 contributionsLeave your young children at home. This is adult Disneyland.I took my son for his 21st birthday the week of Dec 26th. I got married in Vegas 8 years ago. I love the strip. We stayed at Harrah's to be centrally located. We walked 30 miles in 3 days. We visited The Venetian ( a must see 2nd floor canal), Mirage, The Linq ( check out the Linq promenade street). Bellagio, cosmopolitan ( 2nd floor Eggslut is amazing!) Paris, Planet Hollywood, Caesars, Aria, Bally's ( skip Bally's really rundown now). New York NY, MGM Grand, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, Excalibur flamingo, Palazzo. Each hotel is unique and fascinating to explore. My son and I have to be gluten free so the restaurants are all over that we are able to eat at. Vegas is not cheap anymore especially drinks on the strip. Some of the street performers are pretty good " bucket boy," does a fun street show. The only complaint is I was floored by how many strollers and children under the age of 6 on the strip in late hours. My son was shocked at how much bad parenting. I have no idea if Vegas is attempting to market adult Disneyland to families again? Or if it was the time of year? Not sure what people do with their kids as I didn't see much to do for young children especially at 1AM.Visited December 2022Travelled with familyWritten 1 January 2023
- mariaQuincy, Massachusetts1 contributionDecember tripVegas is always fun, even when you don't gamble. Tons to see, great shopping, great golf courses. But it's best in the spring/ leading into summer and fall. Go when the hotels pools are all open and it's warm at night. You will have a blast!Visited December 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 January 2023
- Elise NMorganton, North Carolina30 contributionsNot the Vegas I rememberVegas used to be a place for Adults to play, gamble and see shows. This was my 7th trip and I was very disappointed. A bottle of water is $5. There are parents with kids everywhere. The Strip is overbuilt so its hard to visit all the (formerly) wonderful hotels. It is overwhelming for sure. One thing, I did stay at Bellagio and it was a wonderful hotel.Visited November 2022Written 9 January 2023
- RaedA4 contributionsExperience OnceThe strip has a reputation that needs to be experienced at least once. Been to Vegas five times seven years and walking the strip has been a must. Annoyances are the weed smoke smell, strip club and escort promoters, and homeless not supported wit encouragement to find better shelter.Visited January 2023Written 9 January 2023
- Anderson KWindsor, Canada32 contributionsLoud and brightLas Vegas Blvd is one of the most extravagant places in the world. This is because it's almost a mini world itself. The strip includes the Eiffel tower, the canals of Venice, Statue of Liberty and the pyramids of Egypt. Some of these are grand hotels and some are just for decoration. Or even both!! You could spend hours on the Strip and not get bored. It's amazing! Though it gets busy during some hours. Be warned though, not all hours are for kids. It's not always the most appropriate place for kids at night ever.Visited April 2022Written 9 January 2023
- Beth HLouisville, Kentucky4 contributionsTake advantage of the Monorail to save steps. There is everything to see along the strip. The hotels and Casinos are amazing. You need more than a day to see it all especially if you are going inside the hotels to experience their particular theme. Be sure to choose a restaurant inside any of the hotels for lunch or dinner. So many choices! We utilized the monorail to get from one area to the next. (Much less expensive than the hop on/hop off bus) and you can get a full day pass to ride all day from one end of the strip to the other. However, we did have to take a cab from the Monorail to Fremont Street. I highly recommend the Shark experience at Mandalay Bay, if you're into the Aquarium scene. It is a full on Aquarium Exhibit, in hind site however, I would have skipped the virtual portion offered seperately at the end.Visited January 2023Written 18 January 2023
- India TUnited States47 contributionsYou gotta walk the Strip at least once on your Vegas trip.Very fun, with lots of things to see and experience. Explored midday and at night. Please wear comfortable shoes and clothing, and keep a couple of fold-up shopping bags for impromptu souvenirs and other things you may pick up along the way.Visited November 2022Written 29 January 2023

There is so much to see and do. So many activities for any occasion, nice view and shopping and live music and walking through all the hotels is very nice.

Vegas is outrageously expensive and nearly impossible to get around for someone that can’t walk far. Views are occluded by construction for Formula One. Crowded. Unpleasant. I have been 4 times. Never felt this way on first 3 visits. Have to go off the strip, slogging through ugly construction to get $5 BlackJack. Don’t go.

Busy, bustling, noise and lights, pretty much sums up the strip. I don’t mean these things all negatively or positively it’s just the atmosphere of the strip. It had been nearly 24 years since I had visited so things had changed. The hotels are magnificent, great options for food and entertainment. The negative side was the obnoxious traffic, rudeness of people ( I am well traveled and this was the rudest environment I have been yet), pot smell galore ( eat gummies until your hearts content people!). It is worth the visit, just know it’s pricey to eat, drink water or soda. Plan a Walgreens trip to get water & soda for your room, $5-11 for bottles of water and soda when dining… food was a bit pricier than I expected. Over all the positives outweighed the negatives of the experience, thus the 4/5 rating. It is a unique city with lots to do!

The Strip is just that a strip full of restaurants, casinos and stores.
We enjoyed the people watching and casino hoping.
Once you’ve been here, there’s really not much else to do unless you gamble and want to catch a show.
This was our second visit, we simply hit a few places we missed the last time.

Visited this place on the 20th of May 2023. Lined with upscale casino hotels, the neon-soaked Strip is quintessential Las Vegas. As well as gambling floors, the vast hotel complexes house a variety of shops, restaurants (ranging from mainstream to high-end), and performance venues for music, comedy and circus-style acts. Attractions like the soaring, choreographed Fountains of Bellagio and the High Roller observation wheel draw crowds. About the history of this place The Strip was named by Los Angeles police officer and businessman Guy McAfee, after his hometown's Sunset Strip. It is about 4.2 miles long and sits immediately south of the Las Vegas city limits in Paradise and Winchester's unincorporated towns. It was on my bucket list for a long time and finally managed to see and stay there in the Bellagio for three nights in May 2023.

I was well aware that F1 is just a few weeks away, so I was prepared for some minor headaches navigating the strip using the sidewalks, bridges, etc. What I didn't like was how much more of a cash grab Vegas has become. Some restaurants display their menus outside but without prices. The Denny's near MGM is using a very limited menu (no prices on the menu that is handed to you at the table). Staffing shortages at many places so there are empty tables at restaurants but you still have to wait in a long line because they have nobody to clean the tables. I ordered a soup and a salad at The Cheesecake Factory. The server asked me if I wanted a Caesar salad (the price displayed was for a garden salad). She did not inform me that there was an upcharge. When the bill arrived, it was a couple of bucks more. Not a big deal, but I should have been told. Took a taxi from Mandalay Bay to MGM Grand, was $11.90. I handed the driver a $20 and asked for $5 back...he claimed he only had $3!!! Shop around at the souvenir shops. I paid $15.99 for an engraved pocket knife/tool at a souvenir store next to The Cheesecake Factory. I later saw the exact same thing at several other souvenir stores for $10.99! Coffee can be very expensive. If you are having breakfast at a restaurant, ask them to give you coffee in a to go cup before you leave and avoid paying for one while you're out on the strip. Buy your bottled water at CVS or Walgreens instead of paying $7 a bottle in the casinos. I don't know about other hotels, but the MGM Grand has a pool open year round but no food or drink service! You have to buy something elsewhere and bring it in. It's still the best place in the world to 'people watch', for sure! I'm guessing it will take a few weeks (or months) for them to dismantle all the F1 stuff. Once it's all gone, I'll be back!

With the side walks closed due to the set up for the F1 race, it was like a maze walking up and down the strip. Also, was not able to see the Bellagio fountains. Too bad.

Ok as mentioned below the F1 construction site spoils the strip with all the construction blocking views and the flow of the street. Ambling through the hotels Venetian , Bellagio and Ceaser worth it as a one off for a sanitised Disney take on Europe and its history. Strong consistent smell of weed annoying as are fat girls in skimpy outfit and feathers trying to scam a photo. Nothing cheap so beware of drink and food stops

WELL, DON'T EVEN BOTHER COMING TO VEGAS. THE CORPORATE GREED HAS TRANSFORMED A ONCE BEAUTIFUL AREA INTO A METAL AND ORANGE CONE HELL HOLE ALL FOR THE F-1 GARBAGE! THE STRIP IS UGLY NOW...AND NOT ENJOYABLE FOR A STROLL IN THE LEAST. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY....AND THE LOCALS GOT SCREWED WITHOUT OUR CONSENT!

Hello. We have our first vacation to the Vegas Strip booked at the Venetian in late May. Reviews are making us rethink our plans. We will have our two teenage daughters with us. Is it safe for our family to be on the strip? How concerned should we be with the drug use, crime, and overall sketchiness of those other than tourists like us?

i have been Vegas more than 10 times and just stay Venetian in November 2021.
As long as you travel with kids all the time is fine.
I will suggest going day tour
1) helicopter tour from west grand canyon for
Grand Canyon Discovery by maverick helipcopter
2) family photo at Skywalk
3) upper or Lower Antelope Canyon & Horseshoe Bend
4) Gondola Rides at the Venetian
5) watch show
6) Eiffel Tower
have fun and stay trip :)

Doing a surprise 40th bday trip for my husband in July and his two of his best friends as an all guys trip. What hotel would you recommend they stay at? He’s never been and always wanted to go. Any suggestions would be helpful! Thank you in advance 😁

Right now yes! Mostly everything is open. Some places have a max. But make sure to just set reservations before you go anywhere and you should be fine.

Some are open, but some not, and with a spike in Clark County cases, there is talk of closing again.
There are a dozen active threads on the Las Vegas Destination Forum, which get updates daily, if not hourly.
I would head to that Forum, and bookmark a few of those update threads.
Best of luck, and happy anniversary,

Depends on where you are going. If just around town, Uber or the bus are best. If wanting to go to Hoover Dam or hiking out of town, you can use Hotwire to get a really cheap car. Pick up at the airport

Planning my first trip to Vegas in early April - any safety concerns for a solo traveler?
I know I want to see the canals at the Venetian, possibly ride the High Roller (even though it scares me lol), see the Flamingos, check out Minus 5 Ice Bar and ride the Monorail... and play poker and roulette of course!
What else should I see / do that is reasonably priced? Any tips for a solo traveler?
Thanks! =)

Helicopter trip over the Grand Canyon with Papillon Tours was superb although a bit on the pricey side.
Slotzilla zipline on Freemont St is awesome fun.
Venetian Casino canals, shops and food court are great as are the Forum shops at Caesars Palace. Avoid shops at the Cosmopolitain as they are all high end.
High Roller Wheel is a must. Take the Happy Hour rotation if you like a drink. Bar service is fast and you can make it pay for itself if you knock a few back :)
Don't miss the Bellagio Fountains, they're amazing and free.
Freemont Street at night is brilliant fun and if you go there, take a slice of pizza at Pizza Rock-it's out of this world.
Other cheap eats: Shake Shack, The Donut Store near Freemont St, Grimaldi's Pizza (various locations) and snacks in Eataly are all reasonably priced as is In n Out Burger on the Linq promenade. On the pricier side, Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars Palace is superb and if you really want to splash out on a meal, The Eiffel Tower restaurant is just the best. Work some overtime, get saving and treat yourself. Have an amazing break, as we did 👍
As for the down and outs, girls dressed as showgirls asking for pictures, then trying to charge you, also people dressed as super heroes and Disney characters, little Asian women trying to sell you bracelets and men who will give you cards for prostitutes. Either look away or politely say "no thanks" and they will leave you alone. We thought it was very safe as long as you do expect to witness some or other erratic behaviour on the strip around once every ten minutes.
