I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, and had a knee replacement a year ago. While I couldn't make it all the way to the top, I thoroughly enjoyed the views and much cooler weather. It was 100 degrees in Vegas and 68 degrees at Mt. Charleston. For those like myself, with joint problems, take your time and stop when you've had enough.

Lovely hike...in cooler temps than in Las Vegas, due to higher elevation. The hike is a steady uphill climb with some nice overhanging trees for shade.....lots of benches along the way to take a break if you wish one...or just to stop and enjoy the views. The climb is the equivalent of a 52 floor hike..or so said my fitbit,... More

A moderate hike that in my opinion should be done in the early morning. It is so much cooler and a lot less people. This is a steady uphill hike not for beginners, unless you take many breaks. Don't forget your at altitude.

Enjoyed the 1.4 mile hike Steady climb but well maintained trail. Restaurant at the mountain has great food. Plan for a good half day trip.

This is not for beginners as it was a 2hr round trip up and back down. Plenty of areas to stop and rest if need be. I recommend going in the morning. It is much cooler than in town. Once you reach the top it is such a beautiful 360 view of the valley down below and out past Spring... More

They say this is a moderate to easy trail. It isn't. The literature describes this as a 1.3 mile hike from the trailhead up to Cathedral Rock which overlooks Kyle Canyon and of course a very large part of the Spring Mountains. You begin at an elevation of about 8400 feet and then end up at 10,600 feet more or... More

Glad I did it, glad I'm done! 1.5 miles uphill is moderately strenuous. If you're not used to high altitude take lots of breaks to catch your breath. The view is gorgeous. Trail is well maintained. Hike down was much easier. Do it! After all the buffets and drinks consumed you'll be glad you did.

** Beautiful, medium-to-beginner level hike in Mt. Charleston. Approximately 3 miles long and 1000' elevation gain. Lots of different vegetation and dog friendly. The top is 8000' above sea level and there's great views of the surrounding area. No scrambling, but a lot of gravel and some sheer drops, hiking boots are highly recommended. Hike is approximately 3 hours long.**... More

A group of us decided to hike to the top of Cathedral Rock mountain in MAY 2013. The hike was moderate with no scrambling. The scenery on the way up was so nice that we had no choice but to take pictures. We even stopped at the animal's watering hole. Finally getting to the top and taking pictures was great!... More
