Galena Creek Regional Park is a wonderful place for an afternoon getaway. Bring a lunch (yes there are tables and picnic areas with grills), or just come for a wonderful hike up into the wilderness. The trails are well kept and there are many. The hiking can be found in any level of difficulty desired. I can tolerate medium difficulty,... More

What a fantastic gem minutes from Reno! Being San Francisco natives, we go gaga over snow but we weren't in the mood to ski. We just wanted to play around, build a snowman, and enjoy being together. My kids, 9, 6, and 5, loved being able to run around in all the fresh powder and my husband and I loved... More

The facility and trails at Galena are excellent for families and moderate outdoor exercise. The entire park is well maintained.

We didn't plan to go, but saw this place on the road and stepped into the visitor centers. The staff was very friendly, they suggested a nice snow walk and let us borrow snow shoes (for free!). We enjoyed the walk and the views very much. When there's snow, a fun walk could go just about everywhere. When we headed... More

From Galena Creek Regional Park there are several hiking trails. It's a tucked away section of trails that offer a visitor center for information and also restrooms. There are areas designated for parking. It's refreshing to pack a sandwich and wander uphill on whichever trail you choose. The peace and views will always be rewarding along with a nice work... This unique nature preserve located 10 miles from all the action in the Reno Area is just the place to hike, picnic or to enjoy the Sierras at their finest. Nice restroom facilities and a place you can arrange your own party complete with tables and grills. Reservations necessary. You will gasp and gape at the tall trees and the... More

Forget about the casinos, head south of Reno but not far as Tahoe to smell the Sugar Pines, Manzanita bush, bitter and sage brush. You can hike, bike, or picnic so close to my house!

A 'must do' if you're visiting the Reno area. There is no charge to visit the park and the hiking ranges from easy to challenging. A special place to wander through the beautiful pine forest with a small creek meandering through it.

Very nice park. Wonderful hiking in the forest in the Sierra mountain. Since it is in the mountains some of the hikes are steep. Great place to have a family and friends picnic.
