We visited Culloden Battlefield for a whole day, as we were staying in Inverness. So so much history. The Visitor's Centre is also brilliant -- it also acts as a museum. It tells the story about how the battle was formed between the Jacobites and the Government. A must visit for Outlander fans ;)

I visited with my partner in January. We were surprised that the new visitor center was closed even though it was a Sunday. This was a bit disappointing as we were looking forward to seeing the new interactive display. I have no idea what the entrance fee is but the moor is always accessible and free and was worth travelling... More

I am not a fan of war but I can appreciate the history that goes along with many of the world's past wars and battles. Culloden Battlefield was the site of one of those past battles and this museum gives visitors a number of ways to learn more about it and experience it in a number if interactive ways. I... More

This is a sacred place and should be respected, it has such an atmosphere. It was wonderful to visit and imagine the events that took place so many years ago. It is a place to remember and never forget the pain and anguish suffered by so many men. It was a shame the museum was closed.

We visited in late August and spent a wonderful afternoon walking across the battlefield which is particularly evocative. The museum itself was a pleasure, being both informative as well as engaging.Unlike many other attractions of this type, the gift shop contained really lovely local craftwork at very reasonable prices. If you do visit, set aside most of the day - you won't regret it.

Easy to get a sense of what the Battle of Culloden might have been like. Some useful information positioned in various places but not especially extensive. I think they are relying on you visiting the exhibition space to get additional information - all very well but the place is not always open (e.g. at Christmas/New Year when lots of people... More

As outlander fans we had to visit and have no regrets. Despite it being the last day before winter closure and the weather being hostile ( for Aussies) it was a fantastic experience. We learnt so much from both the Jacobite and English sides and the displays were really well done. Walking the battlefield after the experience of the visitors... More

In April 1746, the Scottish forces of Bonnie Prince Charlie were defeated by English troops commanded by the Duke of Cumberland. It is said the battle was over in less than an hour and the Scots were driven off the field. The location where this battle took place is near Inverness in the Scottish Highlands. Flags have been posted on... More

We were excited to head to this attraction and we were not disappointed. What an outstanding place that so respectfully commemorates such an important part of Scottish history. It was breathtaking to walk across the battlefield and the audio guide was brilliant. Our teenagers loved it as much as we did. This is a must see!!!

We were there on a cold windy wet day which added to the solomomnes of the entire experience. A fantastic place to visit and contemplate the ancient history of the Jacobites.
