A good spot to spend an hour or two. Even in the rain. The battlefield itself can be evocative if you can get away from any Crowds. THe walk through museum provides excellent review of the battle with many different languages in flip-through files. Especially...More

It was our first stop on our way to SKYE. Arriving early certainly has its disadvantages, any reenactments, docent tours, actings, etc., all happen later in the morning; therefore, after paying full fare, it was a complete disappointment. Some sections are interactive, which is nice....More

A very moving experience for everyone, whether Scottish or not. The battlefield has an excellent travelers pavilion with the ticket office, a nice cafe with typical food and drink for a visitors center, and wonderful displays. The history of the time period and the battle...More

Incredibly beautiful memorial to a foolish bravery of Jacobites. Give it at least an hour and if you have enough time give it more. It's worth it.

One of the best battlefields I have been to. The exhibition explains the context of the battle and the build up from both sides. You can choose to follow one and then the other or the two in parallel. Really clear explanations and I learnt...More

As an Australian National Trust members entrance was free. Plenty of parking. Superb exhibits giving a full background. Take the 45 minute guided tour of the battlefield. Very confronting with the blood that was shed and that history seems to repeat itself. Good cafeteria and...More

Visited battlefield last year so this year only stopped to have a quick travel break. Cafe cuisine was simple tasty and a pleasant environment. From last year's experience you need more than three hours to appreciate the exhibition, probably five hours would be better, if...More

Wow. This place is so emotional. Here is where the death of a culture happened. The clan system was destroyed. So much slaughter in the space of an hour. It's deeply moving. It makes you appreciate life, the sacrifice of all warriors regardless of what...More

My wife and I visited in June, 2017 and was impressed. The museum takes great efforts to give a balanced view of history and gives a realistic view of what it was like at that time (both for Scotland and the world).

About how long do you think you spent there? We are trying to figure out how much time to allow for this on our way to Skye.

Easily 3 hours. It was cold and snowing outside so I could have spent longer but came in out of the cold to read some more inside

We are staying in Inverness and would like to see the Culloden Battlefield. I see tickets for the Visitor Center but how does one get there? Is there a bus? If you buy the Visitor Center admission ticket does that include transportation from Inverness?

No. The ticket you buy at the visitor center is for admission to that facility and the battlefield. We had a car so we drove. Ask your hotel. Have you tried Uber?

There did seem to be some coaches, but we travelled by car, so I am not sure.
