The grounds are amazing and every member of the staff is well equipped to provide the history of this "retirement home" of 6300 acres.

Nice estate. Worth a trip. Enter from Ossipee Rd for no fee if you don't want to tour inside castle. Hiking and horseback trails available. Lunch spot had great views. Food mediocre.

We had bad weather, but- it could be worse.... it was not our wedding day. The guy that gave the history talk was great. We did have a cranky trolly drive. Total rainman (woman) with a controlling attitude. I wanted to leave before I arrived....More

Perhaps I'm getting old but I preferred the way they use to do things with the individual tours. Way more informative. Seems some of the original history of the building and the people that lived and visited there has been lost. Don't get me wrong....still...More

This is a great historical house with a very interesting story and amazing setting. Get the story and overview from trained docents then you are free to do a self guided tour of the house and grounds. There are plenty of staff in the house...More

I am not sure. At the main gate I paid for admission to go and tour the castle. My son and his wife wanted to hike Mt. Roberts which is also on the grounds and I paid for them to tour the castle but they never got back from... More

No, unfortunately! The town has many hotels and B&B's. If you don't mind a little drive you can stay at one of the resorts by the lake.
