Great fun wandering along the Portsmouth harbor. I walked over the bridge to Badger's Island, Maine and then watched them elevate the roadway to make room for a ship passing underneath. The scenery and architecture are interesting and worth an hour or two.

We had just finished the gardens nearby and decided to walk along part of the waterfront. It wasn't crowded and tide was out. Saw the lift bridge in action and nice to see the tugs and boats of all sizes moored beside the docks. The area was very clean and view was great into the NH side. Lots of seating... More

Went today to check out the Portsmouth Harbor and it was lovely! Not crowded on a Wednesday night!! I also found garage parking located 6 minutes walking distace to the Harbor for ONLY $1.25 USD an hour! There was a band playing right by the harbor and people brought their lounge chairs and sat nearby the calming water! Nearby there... More

This is a beautiful walk to take in any kind of weather (except in a blizzard, a torrential rainstorm, or a very cold, windy day). The views of the bridge and the Kittery coastline are wonderful, Prescott Park is great, there are picnic tables and benches to rest, and there are some nice little beach and wood trails.

Portsmouth Harbour is one of the two most important naval bases for the British fleet, the other (in historic times) being Plymouth. A csuise from the Historic Portsmouth Naval Dockyard is revealing. Prior ro scrapping or sale to foreign navies, some of Britain's most iconic warships are home ported here.

We wanted to be outside and walking somewhere appealing. We stopped at the information booth and got very helpful directIons and a lunch recommendation. We drove to Peirce Island where we found free parking and a lovely path to walk around the edge of the island along the water. We didn't take the winding trail away from the water. There... More

Our tour lasted for about 1 1/4 hours. Took us out to the beginning of the shoals and narrated throughout with interesting history and anecdotes of fun tidbits.

Portsmouth is such a nice New England town! The trail is basically a nice relaxing walk with pretty harbor views and a close look of the draw bridge. We had seen this bridge so many times on the way to Maine and now took a close look. Old mansions, many nice restaurants and ice cream shops make the walk even... More
