The Cape May Fire Museum is a small museum that displays their antique fire truck and many artifacts from the department. There is a very touching 9/11 exhibit, a patch wall, a display of a chief's office and their antique fire truck. The Cape May Fire Department does a good job maintaining this museum and tells the story of fires from the past and of the history of their department.
You just have to be there when it is open.

This one room museum shared some history of Cape May fires. The badges from many different emergency response crews was extensive. The main attractions, the fire truck is pristine. Very well preserved and maintained. Worth the short walk from the the outside mall and trolly drop off and pick up location.

We were excited to visit this small old firehouse on the corner. The museum is small but does an excellent job of providing the history of fires and firefighting in cape May. The Main point of interest is the old fire truck housed in the garage. It is beautiful and really something to admire. This is not a place that will require a long visit and it is free, but a donation would be appreciated and is very much deserved.

In a reconstructed firehouse on Washington Boulevard, we decided to look in. The door was open and we found a beautiful 1927 American LeFrance fire engine. The building also had a variety of awards and patches from numerous fire houses from around the country. This is worth going to especially if you have young children....

Wonderful local history. If you are a firefighter or first responder, paid or volunteer, it's a great place to walk through. Leave a donation on your way out!

Cute, small museum where you are self guided. There is currently a horse drawn fire fighting apparatus in the museum, but their engine has been gone for some time. We go back a couple of times a year and I visit each time hoping that their engine returns. I am certain that it is challenging finding parts, as well as, the cost of restoration. Still a fun time.

This museum has a small footprint yet it is packed with historical photos and accounts of Cape May fires and the origin of the department. True, the LaFrance that was housed here for years is out for repair, but walk around here anyway. You’ll feel inspired by the tributes to fallen local firefighters and piped-in music (the soundtrack from “Backdraft,” I believe). Another visitor recommended dropping a few bucks in the collection box to maintain this great resource. Please continue this tradition.

This was a great place to visit between a tour and dinner. It took up the perfect amount of time and had a lot of interesting details to offer. They did a beautiful job of laying out the historical fires in the town and showing artifacts that were previously used. The only thing missing was the fire engine. It is currently being restored. In its place is one of the original hand pulled pumps from before the era of internal combustion engines. It is still intersting and worth stopping by. If I am ever in Cape May again, I will have to stop in again and see the restored engine in all its glory.

The Cape May Fire Department does a nice job with their Fire Museum. They give an the reader an interesting look of how their department works. There is an fascinating history between tourism and fire with all the old wooden hotels. There is a lot of history that went up in flames.
Search the walls for the fires fought and for the equipment that was used. There is a lot to see and read.

This is a must see for anyone with personal ties to the fire fighting community. While small, it is filled with wonderful memorabilia and worth the visit
