This past weekend we rented bikes and rode through the refugee. It was a nice quite, relaxing bike ride through the marshes. There's a trail that you can walk on to see the birds and wildlife, it's pretty. You can walk to the beach (but not on it) where the birds mate. It's interesting but not the funnest thing to... This non-profit does a great job educating about horeshore crabs and local shorebirds. They have a program known as return the favor where volunteers can help walk the beach and flip horseshoe crabs.

This was a great place. Loved the board walk to view the lake. We saw lots of swans which was really cool. We then took a walk on the path to the beach adjacent to the lake. It was really nice and we managed to get a closer look at the swans. Then we took a nice stroll on the... More

You don't have to be an environmentalist to appreciate the refuge center. Fun for the family and a learning experience without the pencils and paper

We drove to Cape May to walk on the beach to the point and were very pleasantly surprised to find multiple access points to the Cape May National Wildlife Refuge right from the beach. We really enjoyed walking into the refuge, seeing the birds and other wildlife while walking the well-marked, well maintained trails. There were lots of signs to... More

Unspoiled nature, easily accessible. Come at low tide and walk through the tide pools. Never crowded, always glorious.

Don't miss this location! Drive in and watch for bikers, walkers and rollerbladers. I'd recommend visiting the nature center first and have a chat with the workers. They are very friendly, knowledgeable and have a nice supply of gifts. There is a touch table with local sea/bay treasures that your little ones can investigate. Ask where the nearest Osprey nest... Whenever we have a chance during our travels to come to this Wildlife Refuge, we do it. We especially like the trails through the marsh and woods. It's easy walking and you can count on seeing birds. The large deck overlooking the wetlands always has interesting birders. We usually take the 2 mile walk although there are shorter routes. There's... More
