We had family over the the UK visiting and went to New York for 4 days before Christmas. We went down to the water front to see the Statue of Liberty. As we came out of the subway station we were immediately approached by a...More
Once you park in the Liberty State Park parking lot you buy your tickets for the ferry ride in the old Central Railroad of New Jersey Terminal building which has great architecture. Then you make your way through a security scan and onto the boat...More
We purchased our pedestal tickets about 2 months in advance from the New Jersey side (Liberty Park). Crown tickets sell out months in advance, so plan accordingly. We went on a Friday morning in early November. Liberty Park was easy to find and only a...More
There was no line up on New York side. Make sure you buy your tickets on line in advance so you can go right through to security check. Time to get to each island was short and enjoyable especially if you stand outside and enjoy...More
Tickets were easy to purchase online. We must have timed it just right, because there was no line when we arrived, and the ferry was waiting at the dock, so we boarded immediately. The staff both at the terminal and on board were polite and...More
The boat ride over to Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty was great - there was plenty of room, they were on time. Before that however - their signage is HORRIBLE. Just getting to the parking lot was difficult. We parked, and then couldn't find where...More

I had purchased the pedestal tickets about 6 weeks in advance. Our reservation was for 10:00am. However we were at the liberty state park by about 9am. The views of manhattan's skyline are superb from this park. I would strongly recommend spending some time at...More
Accessing the ferry is much more convenient from this park than from the NY side of the river. The lines are much shorter. Book your ferry online in advance, and select the earliest time you can get to beat the crowds.
Only way to get to Liberty Island & Ellis Island. Big queues to get into the terminal at Battery Park, so I would advise getting there early. The ferry runs smoothly and offers great views of the statue of Libery and Manhattan from the top...More

Took the ferry two weeks ago. The time is the ferry ride from NJ. Arrive 30 mins early, park and walk 5 mins to center. Pickup tickets, better still print at home. Walk 10 mins to jetty and security lines. Short wait times. It actually took us a lot longer to drive there due to traffic. We missed our timed. Ferry and they waved us to the next one 45 mins later. So no need to get hanged up about the time. The ferry goes to Ellis first then Liberty. Another line to go into the base of the tower to get the wrist band, take the elevator then climb the steps to the crown. Timed appt does not seem important, just how long the lines are. Pls take the elevator first even if the line is long. Save the legs for the final climb! Lots of breakfast, we etc, just bring your cc, more convenient than cash. Best of all the lines back to the ferry to NJ very short compared to the long lines to NYC!
