Parking cost $50 for two hours
Jun 2021
On Saturday we parked in the public parking garage at Pier Village because the metered parking was all taken. The only sign said all day parking was $50. We later were charged $50 for the two hours we parked while eating lunch. The only way to exit is by paying whatever they ask. It is absolutely absurd that the sign didn’t indicate that it will cost $50 no matter how long you stay. We will not be back.

Pier Village Review former local
Mar 2020
A former Long Branch resident for 19 years I have watched Pier Village grow since the beginning. I have moved out of Long Branch since 2009 and come back to visit family and friends. I will provide a bottom line up front (BLUF) and break down categorizing Pier Village by five key things I think is important.

BLUF - Unfortunately the money you spend in Pier Village you can take a small vacation elsewhere for much cheaper and more scenic parts of the country. I would think hard about the reason why you want to go to Pier Village and weigh it heavily on your other options and mainly your budget and family.

If your going because of the beach then there are much cheaper alternatives and family packages to Florida, California, North Carolina and Virginia to name a few. If your going for restaurants I would recommend New York City, if in the area there will be much more robust selections, prices will not deviate too much it is really dependent on restaurant. If your going for nightlife again I would recommend New York City which is more robust although more expensive or Florida which is around the same if not cheaper price wise.

For families I recommend going on a road trip around the United States or Tri-State Area, Disney Land, or Skiing in the Mountains, or something that interest them. Not sure why you would want to have a family outing in Pier Village as it does not offer anything outside your typical small city or large town outside of a mediocre beach.

1. Beach - Long Branch beach is honestly nothing special, maybe back 40-100 years ago when cars and commercial flights were not readily available sure it was great because it was close to NYC and convenient. Currently catching a cheap flight to Florida, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, or California is easy as ever with beaches that far surpass Long Branch. Entrance fee is overpriced where most beaches you can go for free, and the water is not very clean especially being in such close proximity to one of the largest cities / Pollution in the United States. (Rating 2 of 5)

2. Food- Honestly there isn't anything food wise unique to this area. It consist of your typical chain restaurants with a few overrated locally owned restaurants. Prior to Pier village these small local establishments were great such as Rooney's, although once they expanded they became less local and more commercialized losing their local vibe and quality. Nothing special or outside the ordinary unless you are from a small town or area with population of less then 30,00 people. (Rating 3-5)

3. Nightlife- I would say Long Branch always had some form of nightlife on Broadway at local bars and restaurants or in West End consisting of college kids attending Monmouth University. As far as Pier Village there is some decent nightlife along the boardwalk although nothing to brag about. I would say it is mostly for the younger crowd 21-25 year olds although there are a few nice places to relax for the older crowd as well. (Rating 3-5)

4. Family- There are not that many family things in my opinion outside of the beach and boardwalk. Great Adventure is a bit far away, Atlantic city is distant and ageing, and Long Branch has not been known as family friendly place since the Boardwalk burned down in the 1980's. I cannot thing of anything special you can do with families here that you cannot do somewhere else at your local mall. (Rating 3-5)

5. Traffic- Traffic is horrible within this area, especially when trying to find parking. If in the area be prepared to drive around quite a bit looking for parking, paying parking fee's which can be quite expensive as well as taking longer then typical commutes when driving around or to local areas. (Rating 2-5)

Reminds me of a Caribbean seaside village
Aug 2019
Like the beach itself, Long Branch sets itself apart by being an upscale Jersey Shore town. This pier village makes me think of the Caribbean villages that are along the beaches (NOT the touristy ports). It's less about trinkets and rides and other ways to extract tourist money, but more about a relaxing atmosphere and an upscale feel. I enjoyed my stroll through the village and the fact that even late at night it feels completely safe.

Mostly Overpriced Resturants and Shops
Aug 2019
I live in Long Branch and the experience at Pier Village is that most of Bars, restaurants and shops are overpriced, and in addition with all the construction of condos and the summer crowds during this past summer is a place to avoid.Hopefully now that the Summer is over hopefully during the Fall and Winter the experience will be better.

Loved the area & boardwalk. Several places to eat and walked along the beach or run along boardwalk. Family friendly & bars with live music too, plenty for all ages.

Beautiful Sunday Morning
Sep 2019
Went for breakfast with my husband on a beautiful Sunday morning. However the new bathrooms by the carousel were locked and the other bathrooms were DISGUSTING! They look like they had not been cleaned in days and there was no toilet tissue. They were absolutely filthy. For shame on management. They charge $3.00 an hour for pariking, yet they can't clean the bathrooms.

May be my new summer distination
Aug 2019
This is a really nice part of the Jersey shore and not that far from the NYC area. There are plenty of nice dining options and retail stores as well. There is also a carousel for the kids. It is very clean and safe. A good areas to bike, walk or roller blade, as I observed. There are a few high end hotels here and the beach is nice.
