Fantastic late lunch. With a team that made us feel so welcome and special. Great views if the wine farms and mountains. Generos pertions and everything tasted great.

We stopped at Franschhoek Cellar as part of the Franschhoek Wine Tram (reviewed separately) yellow route, however they are located next to the main road, so it is very easy to give them a visit. We visited for a wine tasting and thereafter lunch, and as we were a very large group, we all sat at one long table in the tasting room area. The tasting room isn't very big, but is nicely decorated and it has a big window that overlooks the beautiful Franschhoek mountains. They have a couple of tastings for you to choose from, including some pairing options. We ended up doing their standard tasting, which we really enjoyed, and as their wines are well-priced you are guaranteed to find something you like. For lunch, my wife and I decided to share a portion of nachos which was tasty and enough for the two of us. Something that was a bit of a hit-and-miss for me was their service. Although the lady was friendly and knowledgeable, our group was too big for just one person to handle, so she struggled on her own and someone should have come to help her. This also had an effect on how attentive she was. For those with young kids it is good to note that outside there is a covered play area for the kids - it isn't within view from the main restaurant interior or tasting area, however there are people that look after the kids while they play, though maybe good to go check in occasionally. Overall, we still had a good time and will visit them again.

Tino was our designated wine guide (for the lack of a better word). He had a very nice presentation, described the wines and cheeses very well and fed us some interesting Franschoek facts to go with our tasting. Tino Herandien was kind, entertaining and definitely knew his stuff.

We did a wine tasting here and the wine was great! Heavy pours, so pace yourself! We didn't come with a group or as part of the Wine Tram, and it was very easy to do a solo wine tasting even without booking in advance.

Where to start, simply excellent. My mother, wife and son stayed in the garden area and my friend and I did a wine tasting inside the tasting room. Chelsea served us at the bar area, explained the tasting options - we opted the red blend selection. Great selection of wines and very good value at r80. Will certainly be back when next in Franshhoek.

We chose their six round wine and cheese tasting. Four great combinations, one medium and best red wine was destroyed with unsuitable blue cheese. Luckily we saw the trap from a distance - and did not let cheese destroy good wine.
Our waiter was a nice and clever guy. Really pleasant conversation with him. Finally we wanted to test also their top wines - and one bottle traveled with us to North. One day it gives us big enjoyment and pleasant vibes and memories.
They have good variety of tastings and combination. Go and check your one!

My first visit to Franschhoek cellar and I doubt i will be back. The service was terrible. The place was not clean at all. The pairings were below average. The wine wasn’t great. Just a terrible experience overall.

We visited Franschoek Wine Cellar as part of the wine tram. That was our last stop on our wine tasting tour. We thought it would be a more opened place with view on the vineyard, but unfortunately it was a simple restaurant without any sight.
We tasted red wine with chocolate but we did not get any information about the chocolates - why it fits to the wine, etc. And the wine selection was strange, because we only got red wine which was produced last year.
It is a nice pace for a dinner, but not for wine tasting.

We stopped off at Franschhoek Cellar for a light meal and were very impressed with everything. Unfortunately it was Level 4 lockdown so no alcohol could be served. We received a friendly welcome and were shown to the open, sunny area. We felt safe as all COVID protocols were strictly followed and tables were well spaced. Our light meals proved to be very generous and delicious. If parents have young kids there is a very nice play area for the little ones too.
