On the 24th December 2016 I took my 2 adult children to the Nature Reserve and we went prepared to climb the Helderberg Mountain, all the way to West Peak - the highest point. We got to the entrance at 7.30am and after walking the stunning reserve paths we reached Disa Gorge, the beginning of the hectic climb. We got... More

Lovely unspoilt nature reserve. Views from the top are amazing, one can see over towards the Strand, Gordon's Bay and Stellenbosch, even Table Mountain on a clear day. Just be aware that there is little shelter from the sun therefore on a hot day start out early. Various walks are organised here and in season there are Sunday evening concerts... More

Food is usually wholsome and freshly made. Limited menu but well cooked and tasty. Well priced. Basic outdoor/indoor venue with a view of the Helderberg Mountain reserve. Good for breakfast, lunch and teas.

My wife and I had an excellent three hour walk through the Helderberg nature reserve. The fynbos is magnificent in the reserve and Andreas, our guide, a passionate leader of the walk. He grew up in the area and has spent his life immersed in the local natural history. We really enjoyed the trip. Thoroughly recommended.

Be close to nature and experience the SA fynbos. Animals up close and interactive. Very nice to take children to

Encountered a large troop of baboons, many of which had newborn babies. We were able to safely get very close in our vehicle. It was a surprising and awesome experience.

This is the place locals go for a family day out to meet up with friends for a picnic, let the kids play and hang out. Look out for the large tortoises. It has lovely short walks with clear walkways, a nice shop and tea room. I'd recommend it if you are in the area, it's not a destination in... More

We walk here every weekend and love it. We are fortunate to have an early riser key and even with few people around we know we are safe. Many women run and walk alone. Stunning views, very well marked and well kept paths, lovely plants and flowers, lots of rest benches. Great for the whole family. Lawns at the parking... More

The Helderberg Nature Reserve offers wonderful trails for the average walker, as well as more challenging ones for the fit/experienced .hikers.
