This museum is just fabulous. I was there with my husband and son and we all loved it. So much to see and do. I would definitely visit again if I go back to Swellendam.

Swellendam is the third oldest town in South Africa. The Drosdy museum demonstrates the Great history of the town. You need about 2 hours to explore. Thus us a must experience for local South African people and tourists alike

Nicely done museum in historic buildings that show how Dutch settlers lived. The town is so picturesque that I'd suggest a hike if you're pressed for time, but this was worthwhile to learn more history. There's even a small room (expansion is planned) with authentic illustrations of the native people that settlers encountered.

A damp Sunday and a perfect place to spend a couple of hours. The layout of the museum was very interesting, a walk back in time through the various buildings. The Ambagswerf was particularly good and my husband spent a while talking to a very interesting man in the wood shop. Across the road at Mayville the gardens were very... More

We enjoyed our visit to this museum because it gave us a good idea of the history of Swellendam and surroundings. What made this visit even more delightful was the charming volunteer who told us more about the settlers of this town.

Wow! We really enjoyed the museums... A fee of R25 per person for all the different museums within short range. Money so well spent! There is so much to see. I would suggest allocating a good portion of the morning to see them all properly. Coffee shops are close by to enjoy visiting in between strolling between the different museums.... More
