This is a great train ride into Colorado. There is also a fantastic meal provided halfway through the ride. The scenery is absolutely beautiful

This was the second time I have ridden the C&TS and the experience was even better than I remembered. I have been on a wide variety of train rides and this one rates as the best by far. The scenery, the history, the train itself,...More

What a flash back to 1880's when this line opened up. It is a narrow track working steam engine powered by engineers suppling it with coal, amazing and really hard work. The train is followed by a fire car just in case an ember might...More

Great opportunity for lots of scenery and pics. Loved the parlor car but next time will ride coach just to save a few bucks. No bad seats on this train!

My husband and I met out 2 sons and their sweeties at the Chama Station Inn to take a train ride. We had a great time and was very scenic and fun. I would suggest it to anyone!

I preferred this to the Durango and Silverton line. The scenery on the Cumbres and Toltec is more varied. We saw more wildlife, it was more remote and just more mind boggling beautiful... for an Indiana Hoosier at least. You have high mountain passes, the...More

Wonderful, wonderful!! All day outing behind steam locomotives in stunning scenery with knowledgeable, friendly docents if you go to the open car who tell you about what you're seeing and answer your questions. We'll be back!! Authentic steam train experience! If you love steam, this...More

Rode this train 15 yrs ago. It was just as enjoyable and a delicious lunch is included in the ticket price. The Vistas are beautiful and the open air car comes with a volunteer that explains what you are seeing. It's such a relaxing trip...will...More

The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad is as good as it gets, it's that simple. We rode in the parlor car from Antonito Colorado to Chama New Mexico. It is not necessary to purchase a seat in the parlor car as all the different cars...More

We are thinking about taking the Chama Train Ride in July, 2017. We did the Durango Parlor Train 8 years ago. Is this train ride as pretty as the Durango Parlor Train? Is taking the first train from Chama, the prettiest part of the trip? Is the parlor Car worth the money? Would appreciate any recent information you have.

You ask a good question. Every ones answer may be different. As for us we went from Chama to Antonito but you can do it the other way if you want. Depends on the vacation & state your in. This trip was our 33rd in doing... More

We are planning to do this ride during the Memorial day weekend. I see that most of the reviews are for Sept - Oct timeframe. Is it worth our while to travel back and forth from ABQ for this train ride in May? I know it won't be as scenic as fall colors but as long there is going to be greenery around and good views we would be content.

I would say yes! However, this is a long ride and I think they provide a bus for the return trip. The train itself is a hoot, including all the preliminaries at the yard before departure. Lots of beautiful areas. If... More
