As others have mentioned, this is more aptly a "warm spring." I visited on a brisk 25 F morning in January and was the only person there. Very accessible spring, only about a 10-15 minute walk from the parking area, which you can actually see...More

As noted in other reviews, the Jemez Springs area is lovely. Spence Hot Springs is not the nicest because of lots of litter. The springs are only luke warm, and I only saw dogs go in, the people who hiked up all just decided to...More

The whole area is pretty and worth spending a day hiking. This particular spot is ruined by people hanging out and leaving behind trash (dirty diapers, plastic bottles). Also dog and possible human feces line the trail. Spend your afternoon on one of the other...More

This used to be a really nice place to visit. Unfortunately, some people have no respect for the environment and just litter everywhere. Always crowded. I filled a bag with trash that I found inside and around the pools.

This place use to be amazing. Sadly it is now trashed, the water temperature seems questionable, and visitors treat it like a party at a public pool. 18 years ago I started visiting this place several times a year, for many years.... Winter, spring summer,...More

We visited in April with 3 kids (youngest was 6). The place is easy to find, we were given a map by the ranger at the Jemez historic site (worth a stop on its own) down the road. The climb was easy enough, around 30...More

The parking lot was near capacity and busy by late afternoon. The 15 minute brisk walk to the spring may be trying for some and expect a crowd at that time. The water was tepid and questionable quality but the mountain view is something.

Hiked up to be alone at sunrise and we were. Interesting experience as had never been to a hot spring. Actually didn't feel that hot, just a little warm, but the beauty and peacefulness made it quite nice. Got some good photos. Glad we came...More

After reading the numerous negative reviews here, I was dubious about visiting, but it was wonderful! The trail up was muddy in spots, and rather slippery packed snow in others, but the not difficult. When we got to the spring itself, the only people there...More

I have been to this magical spring twice and was invigorated by both experiences. The main pool is more warm than hot but there is a tiny cave attached to it where the hot water comes forth. This is a perfect size for two or...More

No, not at this particular spot in the Jemez. Not even picnic tables. It is just a small parking lot and beautiful trail. But there are probably some at other trail heads and lots, I just don't know where.

This is a "natural" attraction. There is a parking lot on the same side of the road and then there is a hike about 20-30 minutes to the first pool. It switchbacks quite a bit but is not difficult. We did it when there was... More
