At ANASAZI FIELDS WINERY we hand-craft dry table wines from fruits and berries other than grapes. Unlike most "fruit wines", our wines are NOT SWEET dessert wines. Their delicious dryness makes them the perfect accompaniment to any meal. Our wines, such as Plum wine, Apricot wine, Peach wine and Blackberry wine are crafted from local and other New Mexico fruits and berries. We also produce several dry grape-based wines and an off-dry cranberry wine for the holiday season. All of the wines, except the cranberry, are aged on oak for two or more years before bottling.ANASAZI FIELDS WINERY sits on the western edge of the old village of Placitas, New Mexico, between Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Orchards and vineyards surrounding the winery are watered by a spring-fed irrigation system that dates back over a thousand years to a time when the Anasazi people farmed the Placitas Valley. Nearby are petroglyphs which we have reproduced on our wine labels.

Totally different wine tasting experience. We arrived a day after a local art festival and items were still available to purchase or view. The owner is a terrific woodcarver and I'd stopped just to see the carvings. His approach to making wines is much different...More

Off the beaten path, a little further than my Android Navigator thought we should go, was the one-man winery of Placitas. The varietals feature local grapes fermented with local whole fruits for unique, sulfite-free wines for the most part. The winemaster is a former scientist...More
