We did morning hike. Trails well marked and not crowded. Did 8+ mile hike in 4 hours. Saw several deer and mountain lion tracks. Would rate hike as moderate.

We were out and about and saw a sign to Grindstone Lake. Decided to go visit. It is a beautiful lake with mountain backdrops. Great for picture taking. It's also near Grindstone Stables if you want to do a trail ride. Worth a visit.

My husband and I are hikers and mountain bikers. This has the best trail around the lake. If you are just wanting to walk, hike or bike this is the trail. Beautiful and wildlife watching!!

Everyone travelling through south-central New Mexico knows of the well-advertised Mescalero Apache Casino, "Inn of the Mountain Gods," with its associated beautiful man-made lake. But until this trip I was unaware that just a handful of miles therefrom there's an equally picturesque lake, also man-made,...More

No camping at the lake...though it is next to town so my fiance and I took a room at the Chalet...yes, as I recall you can swim there. If you fish, we had good success with trout.
