I've walked through the cemetery several times over the years. The first time we were walking through at dusk. We saw a monument with a wrought iron fence around it. As we got closer we could see it was Kit Carson's grave. We continued walking, I looked to my left and there was the grave of Father Martinez. Chilling. I... More

Located within the Kit Carson State Park, the small cemetery is the resting place for Carson, his family, early white and Hispanic locals, and soldiers killed during the Mexican and Indians Wars.. The headstones and signs make for some interesting reading. A few headstones are in Spanish and at least one in German.

I attended the Taos Wool and Fiber Festival in Kit Carson Park. There was plenty of room and the parking was nearby.

A park with the remains of many of Taos's founders and historical figures. Resting within the park are "Kit Carson" and his descendants.

Fun little park, history on all sides (take a walk through the cemetery at the back), great place to stretch your legs, people watch, throw a ball. Don't go at night

I enjoyed walking through this home as Kit Carson was a favorite of ours as children Later we became intrigued with his history. The house is very interesting museum with Kit Carson artifacts.

Great playground for children (one for super small kids and another for 5-9 year olds). Basketball court, walking trail, and plenty of open space. The park is also the burial ground for many historical Taos figures including Kit Carson. Look for Manby's grave just outside of the actual cemetery.

We have read taht it is difficult to find Kit Carson's grave. Not necessarily. Start at the Kit Carson Home and walk as directed by the museum for 2 blocks and you will be at the cemetery near the grave. Look for the US flag and it will take you straight to Kit Carson's grave. Lots of interesting, historical graves... More

Looking for a nice walk downtown Taos? Kit Carson City Public park is for you. The trail is winding around volleyball, tennis and ballparks. Paved and approximately two miles in length. Don't miss the side walk just off trail to the cemetery where you can pay respects to the Kit Carson family.
