If you have any interest at all in the Southwest, it's people or particularly it's art - you need to stop by the Taos Art Museum. It is housed on Nicolai Fechin's home. The home itself just feel authentic. His main home is the museum, his studio the gift shop. Fechin is known as a painter, but obviously he was... More

Home to a small art gallery, we were less interested in the art and more interested in the house itself. Nicholai Fetchin was born in Russia, immigrated to New York City in 1923, and moved to Taos in 1927 where he built this house for his wife and daughter. The woodwork and carvings throughout the adobe building and his studio... More

The Taos Art Museum at Fechin House is a must stop for any visitor of Northern New Mexico who has a free afternoon. The building is beautiful and the art really lets you see what the early "pioneer artists" saw when they settled here.

I had the opportunity to visit this museum on my last trip to Taos. Loved being able to wander through the beautiful old adobe house, especially the part that had been the artists studio! Also very notable was the gift shop - it was filled with beautiful items from local artists and other items carefully chosen. Really gorgeous stuff! This... More

Everyone was so nice and helpful. The exhibit was wonderful but Fechin's home and wood carvings was the star attraction. The museum shop was just as lovely and had high quality items. Great local jewelry and art. A surprising treat for us all.

If you do one thing in Taos, you must do this museum. The rotating art exhibits are always wonderful and the woodwork and art by Nicolai Fechin is just unbelievable! You also get to see his studio which has more of his woodwork and hand-made furniture. The gift shop has been revamped and has exquisite works - most of it... More

As always, the Taos Art Museum offers engaging rotating exhibitions. I come to Taos at least once a year and always come to the Museum. This year I happily found the gift shop re-designed. It is beautifully done and enticing. A much needed improvement from some time ago.

This historic house and studio designed, built and carved by the Russian artist Nicolai Fechin is a beautiful piece of art in and of itself. This month the art museum featured one room dedicated to Fechin's work and ran a video history, a special photography exhibit by the talented contemporary Taos artist Lenny Foster on its second floor, and works... A great local house displaying beautiful art. The craftsmanship of the house is excellent. The woodcarving is beautiful. The ultimate craftsman home.
