Glimmerglass hosted a wonderful production of the Siege of Calais, which we just attended this Thursday. For the most part, the artists were very accomplished and the orchestra excellent also. The venue is just so charming with great acoustics and set in a lovely parklike...More

We attended the production of "Oklahoma!" and were overwhelmed by the quality of the singing voices. On a scale of 1-10, we give the singing a 12. However, we were underwhelmed by the acting, which we give a 6. With the talent on that stage,...More

The Glimmerglass Festival is a rare gem, tucked away in central NYS near Cooperstown. Its production of Porgy and Bess is exquisite on many levels, from the orchestra to the designers and directors. The singers/actors are superb.

I'm not an opera lover, but this is a wonderful place to see an opera whether you are a novice or an expert. Top of the line all around.

My wife and I saw Oklahoma! and Porgy and Bess. Very different shows, but each was wonderful. We were particularly impressed with Porgy and Bess, which was crisply directed and powerfully performed. We attended pre-performance discussions for both shows. The discussions were both informative and...More

Thank you for sharing your experience! We do suggest dressing for the weather as the theater is not climate controlled. We don't amplify our performances. The microphones are for the assisted listening devices, which are available at the front of the theater at audience services....More
