This was a surprisingly nice museum in town that I did not expect. They had a nice variety of exhibits and the building is absolutely beautiful. It is right on the lake, so a stroll around back is a must.

This museum is terrific. The American Indian exhibit amazed me. It is extensive, and enlightening. It pays a deserving tribute to the many tribes who have inhabited and still inhabit North America. The building itself is superb...and within the building are spacious rooms, with well designed displays. The placards adjacent to each item are easy to read. Try to fit... More

We were in awe with all that we saw here. The museum is open, inviting and expertly laid out. One of our favorite sections was the floor honoring Native Americans.

Outstanding session, typical of series provided throughout the summer season on topics related to exhibits or events in the cultural community. Speakers are staff of the museum who are experts in the areas. Given to small groups which allow exchange of ideas and inspection of appropriate exhibits.

This is a lovely museum is a gorgeous location. We enjoyed the special exhibit on Alexander Hamilton/Aaron Burr. The galleries are full of gems! It was especially interesting to learn about the historical building, which was once the home of James Fenimore Cooper. Make sure to take time to walk around the grounds and down to the lake. Very nice... More

A beautiful museum with even more beautiful and extensive grounds in the back bordering the Lake. The café serves Ommegang brews and there is a lovely and very large sitting area in the back overlooking the grounds which provides a fabulous view of the lake. The museum and grounds should take no more than half-a-day to explore. This is a... More

History is well preserved here, from the 1800's to ancient Indians. There is plenty of art and artifacts for viewing and studying. The grounds are absolutely stunning, especially in the fall. The view of the lake was breathtaking.

The facility is beautiful, the grounds and the view stunning! I liked the contrast also from Early American Indian to more modern French and also 19th century American. It was the Indian however that I found extremely impressive and of the finest quality!
