Mid week visit. The staff were friendly and helpful. The museum pleasantly quiet. Some very interesting exhibits to be found. My wife (who does not like museums) found this one both quaint and interesting. Various film series to attend, events to participate in too.

Visited an afternoon during the week prior to Christmas and had the museum almost to myself. Some exhibits are permanent, and others for a limited time. Really enjoyed history of figure skating and Lewis Hine photographs. Three levels, cafe and museum shop.

We saw a few other exhibits, and got a nice docent tour, but really this place is (perhaps) unparalleled for the collection of Native American art and artifacts. Piece after piece is stunning.

Best exhibits were Indian related but collection was uneven in quality or narrative...not a true regional museum like Adirondacks museum

Cooperstown and it's surrounds is not easy to get to but certainly well worth it. The Fenimore Art Museum has beautiful exhibit space and a well balanced offering of international traveling and locally produced exhibits. The lower level features the amazing Thaw collection of art...More

Bought tickets as part of a package with the Baseball Hall of Fame, definitely worth seeing this museum. Some fine artwork, some dating back to the mid 1700's. Beautiful Museum was a family home, donated as a museum back in the 1940's. Very well maintained...More

After finishing the three floors I felt I had experienced a good scope of American Art. Would have given it 5 stars but felt it needed more African American and Latino artists to get a full scope. Otherwise the artwork is nicely hung and explained,...More

My previous visit to this museum had been as a child; I remembered it as lots of paintings of early America. On this visit, I realized it had many more things going for it. I'm usually bored by Native American art, but the collection here...More
