The gorge trail is a nice walk along the stream past several cascades and waterfalls. The path is stone, but can be uneven so you'll want sturdy footwear. Starting from the tennis courts is going upstream and up stairs which was nice to do on the way out rather than they way back. We returned along the gorge trail although... More

The waterfalls are less spectacular this year because of low rainfall, but that seems to have made the colors of the leaves much more beautiful. We really enjoyed hiking here this week -- and it's best to go in the fall -- some of the trails are closed in the winter.

We had a picnic lunch and hiked the beautiful gorge trail. Here's all that is here: Stony Brook State Park's terrain comprises hilly woodlands, a deep gorge with rugged cliffs overlooking three waterfalls and fascinating rock formations. 116 tent and trailer campsites are scattered in the woodlands above the gorge in the upper or south end of the park. Visitors... More

Visited this state park after a friend recommended it. Three 1/2 hour long trails along a gorge , lovely views and lots of waterfalls, wear sneakers, restrooms and lots of parking, with a swimming pool in the summer and small shop for snacks. Defiantly recommend it on a sunny day for the changing of the leaves

A treasure in the finger lakes that doesn't get the press it should. 3 really great trails that are about a mile to two miles in length, with stunning scenery. The main attraction is... yes, a brook. With a lot of stones. Waterfalls, a gorge and a photogenic creek bed all covered by the three well maintained trails. Bring good... More

As my kids have grown up this was the place to take them on a hot summer day. A short walk up the trail and you were in paradise. I have taken many of our family pictures here because the scenery is so beautiful.

Although this NY State Park is more frequented now after being featured in magazine as one of the top places to visit in the state, it still has all the views you could ask for, with chiseled trails through the gorge allowing you to see multiple water falls and walk over some beautifully crafted bridges. It is absolutely a gem... More

Growing up in western New York, a trip to Stony Brook on a hot summer day has been a wonderful tradition in our family for four generations. It's more crowded now, and some of the waterfalls and "water slides" have changed over the years, but it remains as magical and "cool" as ever, bringing out the child in all of... More

Annual family reunion punctuated by nice new playground at the upper glen. The brook water was nice and cold. For people who want nature and plumbing this is a good option. Park personnel do a good job of making the place presentable.

Swim, walk, hike, and play. Something for everyone and beautiful gorges and waterfalls if you want to just sit. It gets crowded so go early or late!
