Although the centre is closed it is still open for Events throughout the year. I attended the Tudor Day recently which I can recommend,lots to enjoy and to try for yourself including making rope from straw,crafts,mixing your own herbs and a good band was present to provide period music.Refreshments were provided like tea,coffee,crisps biscuits etc.Nice for the barn to be open. There will be further events this year.…

Contrary to popular belief events are still being held at the visitor centre. We attended Tudor Day there on 24th May 2019. There were lots of wonderful games, crafts and activities for families including spinning yarn from wool, candle making, falconry, portable beehive and a plant stall plus live music in a beautiful setting.…

Visited September 2018 and it was truly lovely. Just off the busy main road you would not expect to find this little piece of tranquillity. Just a cup of tea and a sandwich outside but it was delicious and the service could not have been more pleasant. An ideal place to spend an afternoon.…

Visited Bough Beech on a Monday afternoon in January with my Dad and brother. Before our visit of course I TripAdvisored it for an idea of what to expect. I read that the visitor centre has been closed. We parked up along the road where there were a couple of people set up with binoculars looking over one side of the reserve. An information board, where you can update the birds that have been spotted there We saw 2 herons flying over. The visitor centre was indeed closed, open to group bookings/ tours later on in the year. For someone interested in nature this is a great find. Even for an afternoon out like us 3 it was a nice place to visit …

What a shame this lovely hidden gem is closing. My wife and I have been regular visitors, virtually every week, since retiring just over two years ago. It had awakened our interest in bird spotting and generally all the flora and fauna to be found in this unspoiled spot. We cannot praise the volunteer staff highly enough for their depth of knowledge of the local nature and how so helpful they have all been, will miss them all. Very sad time.…
