I took my family to the Van Wyck homestead and learned so much. My children where fascinated with all the information that they learned. So much history here. This house was also called the Worton house at one time. The volunteers that run the historic site is full of information and loved answering all of people's questions. I will go... More

My wife and decided to check out the Van Wyck Homestead when visiting our daughter in Fishkill. Our docent was Steve, the President of theFishkill Historical Society. The homestead is interesting enough but Steve's enthusiasm for history, storytelling abilities, and knowledge of Fishkill history was the real gem. He turned us on to all of the amazing history in the... More

The volunteer docents were so friendly, kind and knowledgable, you can tell that this is a labor of love. Such an interesting story of the Van Wyck Home - incredible to be still standing as it was in 1732! You will get to walk on the original floors walked upon by some pretty important historical figures - a must see... More

Great place for local history. Dutch colonial home became the headquarters when Fishkill was chosen for the supply Depot of the Continental army during the Revolution. Open on weekends from June to October. Call for more info

The Van Wyck Homestead Museum is just a part of the larger historical Fishkill Supply Depot, an important installation during the Revolutionary War, operating for seven years. The homestead became the Officers' Headquarters. It includes the largest Revolutionary War soldiers' cemetery in the nation, yet gets very little attention or protection from the federal government. Volunteers are diligently working to... More

The women who gave the tour of the house were informative, interesting and ready to answer any questions. It isn't always open, we lucked up on a Girl Scout troup that gad an event there that day.
