First, if you can visit during the week in off season, do it -- you'll get a private tour full of fascinating information. Tours run on the hour, so try to get here about thirty minutes early to view the film and wander the exhibits before the tour -- you'll be able to follow the complex family lineage better. They... This was an interesting historical house tour. One of the first things they do on the tour is give everyone a copy of the family tree as they will discuss various family members who lived in the house during the tour. Like many houses on the Hudson, the house has additions and changes and it is all explained. You get... More

The tour was very interesting. The museum exhibit as also informative. Then you can picnic right on the Hudson River. There are a lot of trails to hike, also.

Last night we went to Clermont mansion Ghost Tour.we walked along pumpkin lined walkways to get to the entrance. It started with cider and donuts and candies while we waited. When the tour started, I didn't know what to expect. We walked thru the house with our guide and saw various ghosts, Mr Livingston, Mrs Livingston, their son in law,... More

Good insight into a family we had never heard mentioned before visit to Clermont Mansion. Livingston family had many roles of importance to the history of Hudson River Valley as well as USA. The women of the family also showed their importance. Our tour guide was great at sharing her information as well as being willing to ask for questions... More

Beautiful state site on the Hudson - like many of the Germantown mansions it faces the Hudson and looks to the west with great views of the Catskills. A bit bothersome that there is a parking fee and a visit fee but I guess for folks that don't want the house tour it makes sense. The interior of the house... More

Great insight into the Livingston family - had no idea that they had played such an important role in the American revolution! Lovely grounds, great house, great tour guide.

The house is an excellent example of late Georgian / early Federal Style architecture. It's lovely inside & out. The grounds & views are classic, majestic Hudson Valley Estate. I've been here many times but I always learn something new and fascinating about early American history. Margaret Beekman Livingston, the woman who 'built' the house we step into today, provides... We loved our time with Miss Betty! She not only can keep track of all the Livingstons up and down the Hudson River Valley (if you saw how many there are you'd know it's not so easy) and their cousins; but she fills you in on the history you thought you knew about the area. It's a beautiful house full... More

I was there to look at the grounds because my daughter is getting married here in 2017. I found the house tour much more interesting than I expected. I didn't know that the Livingston family was so involved in our nation's history. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. The building, the grounds and gardens are lovely. Will be a beautiful...
