"The Beach" of The Gambia and as excellent an Atlantic shore as any.

If I was to score this beach on it's beauty alone it would get a five no problem, clean warm palm tree lined paradise, but and here is the but, you will be inundated with every type of seller constantly all day long, the bumsters being by far the worst, I have visited the Gambia before and am not shy... Been walking and swimming, riding along this bit of pristine West Africa coast line since the mid 80's and pleased to say, it has changed, there is more commercialism, the real fishing has gone, but sea front retains most of it's idyllic charm. From beach combing, to bird watching to just observing the locals about their daily tasks. There are... More

Great place to spend the day/afternoon - plenty of restaurants, fruit sellers, and hotel beaches where you can enter and also grab a bite to eat! Quad biking, horse riding also available by random people passing by - catch them when you can.

Kotu beach is lovely, there are plenty of shacks serving good food and drink, sunbeds and umbrellas usually free. Golden sands as far as you can see.

Kotu beach is beautiful and unspoilt, and a great place to relax and spend the day. Along... More

The long beach is unspoilt . wide, safe, you can walk for a loong way in either direction help or watching the locals pull in their fishing nets , stop off at a fruit ladies or juice seller,,or chill in 1 of the many bars.
