My sister and I went diving 4 days with Odyssea dive and we had an absolutely fantastic time. We are very thankful, especially to Jorge, Mathias and Rafael.
With Odyssea dive, you have a perfect mix of a professional and fun team. They will ensure that you are well-taken care of and they are very attentive about helping you with the gear and that you have everything you need to dive with safety. But the team is also very friendly and funny, ensuring you have a good time in-between the dives and during the dives.
After almost 3 years without diving, my sister and I wanted to have a refresh in the pool before going in the water which had to be cancelled due to the weather. They directly offered that we go with Mathias (the instructor of the centre) the next day and be only with him for the dives of the day at no extra cost. This really helped us to feel confident and do a few exercises (even though we realized diving is like riding a bicycle so the refresh wasn't that necessary in the end). So thank you for the flexibility and for making us very comfortable, it helped us enjoy ourselves from the start.
The dives themselves were really great, we even saw some dolphins and a dugong from the boat. The lunch break on the island and the homemade cake at the end of the day are also really nice! They are all very helpful for any tips or support you might need during your stay in Vilankulos.
Thanks again for the positive vibes and all the good laughs! We also really liked how Mathias and Jorge are passionate and how we were all very excited to share what we saw underwater after each dive!

Hugo is a very good dive instructor. Very knowledgable. He provided a personal and dedicated diving experience, especially for my two sons (11 and 17 years old). Even on an expected windy day he went out of his way to make the diving course a good experience for first time divers and experienced divers alike. Thanks!

Dear Peter
thank you so much for your compliments about HUgo... we'll share them with him! He is indeed a passionate and very safe instructor and always does his best to provide a safe and fun experience to his divers. We're glad you - and your sons - enjoyed diving with him and on our beautiful reefs.
We wish you many more great family underwater experiences in the future.
All the best,
Sabrina on behalf of Hugo and the Odyssea Dive Team

We did the beginner dive experience with Matias and Blessings. The first intro in the pool and follow up actual dive went very well for out group of 6 (3 adults and 3 kids). Matias was excellent instructor and took extra care of our younger kid who was afraid of diving. Other family members also joined in for some snorkeling and we all had an amazing experience enjoying the beautiful Bazaruto reefs, while feeling safe and taken care of. Highly recommend this diving company!

We dived for one day, 2-tanks, which was well run and guided. Visability wasn't great when we were there, but we still saw some cool stuff. But Odyssea offer to go to very few dive sites on Two Mile Reef, Rumour has it only the dive operators out of the fancy resorts on the Bazaruto islands can go to the many other dive sites. Also, we were two divers wanting to dive San Sebastian (to see more pelagic stuff) but Odyssea require at least 4 divers and didn't have any other clients to join us during the whole week we were in Vilanculos. In short, I wouldn't recommend divers wanting more than 1 day of diving to come to Vilanculos. Also the price is high, even compared to diving in Tofo with similar distances, etc.

Thank you for your review Geoffrey.
I am sorry about the visibility, next time make sure to come between March to October when the conditions are much better!
I am not sure where you heard these rumors... But I can guarantee you that we are very passionate about our job and we want to bring our customers to best Dive sites possible, if we went to fish bowl a lot is simply because this is the best Dive site at the moment with 'decent' visibility.
Also, I must point out that we are always the first one in the water and the last one out, ensuring again that you have more encounters with our marine life!
About Sao Sebastian, I must say we are often trying to go there as it's much closer to us than traveling from the "Fancy Resorts" on the islands. I am very disappointed we couldn't take you there (We always want to go!). Yes, we need at least 4 divers which must Also be Advanced and experienced with strong currents and negative entry, the weather must be at best too. I would love to go SS daily, but unfortunately we aren't a NPO, so we do need a minimum amount of divers to make the trip. (beginning of Low season, after the festive spell, it is hard to find certified divers let alone advanced divers with experience).
And to finish, yes the price is higher than Tofo, but the distances are not the same! Our closest Dive site is 1 hour away...In fact our total time on the boat is 150mins (2hr30). Tofo has a dive site 10mins away yet still charging $55 for ONE dive $100 for two. Vilankulos charges $80-$110 for snorkeling, we charge $70 for the travel and ONLY $30 for the dives including gear ($60 for two dives).
Not only that but what we offer are Full Day Trips of both Islands; including the famous Bazaruto Archipelago where we provide lunch and water to go explore the amazing dunes. Not just 2 Dives. We also do Ocean Safari's to and from the islands and on return we are welcomed with Yummy Cake, tea and coffee Free of charge!
Thank you for pointing all these out, we are always trying to improve.
We hope to see you another time and to finally take you to Sao Sebastian!

We enrolled our teenagers in at Casa babi’s dive center “Odyssea Dive” where they completed the padi open course. The dive instructors there were excellent and gave us as parents full confidence in their professionalism.
The dive center was fully equipped with top quality equipment which was all well organized and stored beautifully. You could see straight away it was really well run and maintained to a high standard.
My daughter was a bit apprehensive, but this was where Blessings and Mathias came in and gave her the reassurance and confidence that she needed to not only pass but enjoy all that 2 mile reef had to offer.
I can’t thank Blessing and Mathias and their dive team enough and look forward to coming back and diving with you again 🙌🏻🤗🤿
The Casa Babi staff in the hotel were very welcoming and the food/ menu and the service were excellent 😊
The rooms we were shown around were very comfortable and very inviting and offered air conditioning, fans and full size nets, en-suite bathrooms which were all really tastefully decorated.
I highly recommend Sabrina and her team at Casa Babi & Odyssea Dive as a destination in Vilanculos which is well worth visiting when thinking of booking a trip to Mozambique.
We will definitely be back there 🙌🏻🤗

I went diving with Odissey to the two mile reef. The communication with the team was perfect (by whatsapp) and they were very friendly and nice. The place where we did the first dive, they called it the aquarium, was beautiful. It had a vast carpet of anemone and anemone fish and huge groupers would lay down there in cleaning stations. Was very interesting. One the second dive, on the outside of the reef, we saw a couple of sharks, 2 turtles and 2 rays. For some reason the same species of fish looked bigger than in other places where I have seen them. There was a lot of current and sand on both sites making visibility not perfect. I am not sure if it is always like that or if it was bad luck. The food was good, and they set up a shade tent for us to eat at the beach. The guides were very friendly. We could only go dive that one day as the other days were windy/currents. I liked the dive, but I think some things could be improved. Was hard for me to see who the guide was, as we were all dressed in black with yellow fins. And, although there was almost no-one around, we did cross another group and at some point I didn’t know who to follow (everyone with the same black suit and yellow fins too). I have been in guided dives where the dive guide wears something very obvious like fluorescent pink shorts over the suit or some funky colored head cover. I like that as it makes it obvious who is who. Also, I would have liked that the guide pointed out more things. I am sure I missed amazing animals that guides know where they are (e.g. we went to an area that is supposed to have moray eels but I didn’t see any and some pointing might have helped – I joke that it is a cliché that guides point to their “usual” moray but I actually missed it here). Maybe was because everyone was more focused on trying to see sharks or bigger plaggic animals? Because of the current everything passed by really quick so maybe that is why we didn’t look at the details? We had a dugong come up to breath next to the boat in between dives what was cool. I understand that the 2-mile reef and the San Sebastian area are the main points of attraction there, but I wished they had alternative sites to dive when the wind/currents do not allow to go to those places – maybe it would be interesting for people that like small and details. The diversity in this area is so huge that just one day of diving, looking at big animals, felt short. I wish we could have had more dives.

Behind an appearance of professionalism lies incorrect, perhaps opportunistic, behavior. We booked an outing with two dives two days before, we went there a day before to confirm: they refused the deposit payment (bad faith?) and we made an appointment for the next day. When we arrived there on time they rejected us because the seats had been assigned to other customers!!!! The 'excuse' was that the previous afternoon we had not answered their phone call (which did not occur and was not recorded by the smartphone...). So we had to give up the only worthy dive of our trip. Congratulations for the correctness!!! Absolutely to avoid if you don't have time and days to wait for their convenience

Cordiali saluti,
Sabrina & tutto il team di Odyssea

Excellent experience!!!! Highly recommended. Day trips with 2 dives, a great lunch break on Bazaruto with fantastic landscapes and a reef with exceptional marine life (splendid corals and very dense and diverse fauna both species and turtles).
Bonus for the lucky ones, a real probability of meeting the humpback whales 🥰 At worst, their song underwater is magic 🤩
The team is very attentive, double check the equipment and secu and always with a smile 👍
Thank you again for these good times.
Accuracy for non-divers: possibility to snorkel on the reef. It is beautiful, we travel in the middle of a multicolored coral garden and in a real aquarium.
PS: our son - teenager - spent his Open Water with great enthusiasm with the team. Now very comfortable even in conditions of high current and reduced visibility. Thanks to Chissomo!

47 years diving around the world. This centre gave the best pre visit information, great communication and booking. At the centre there was all the assistance and facilities any diver would want. Skilled pleasant DM's. Dives were good.. biggest turtles ever... sharks.. corral and the usual coral fish. Tea and delicious home made cakes to end the day. Odyssea exceeded my expectations. Thanks Odyssea team

We had an extraordinary experience with Odyssea and Mathias and the dive crew. Our children (12, 14 and 16 years) and myself enjoyed two great dives at the 2 mile reef and we saw lots of great fish (including shark, turtles and many colorful fish). Mathias has a great way to engage with the whole family and I wholeheartedly recommend Odyssea for diving and other activities offered by the center. Thank you for a such a memorable experience and we hope to be back soon......

Hi there, diving is usually at its peak conditions then! Good visibility and good chances of sharks, mobula rays, moray eels and much more! Water temp is still moderately warm at this time also.

I've near scuba dived before. Do you offer lessons and how long would it take .

Hello,
we do offer PADI courses.
You have 2 different options:
1- Discover Scuba Dive : this is just a trial, a quick course to see if you like diving. It takes a day and a half. First day a 2/3 hours for a basic theory session and a swimming pool session to practice some skills and work on your buoyancy. The day after, you do 2 dives at a maximum depth of 12 meters, with your instructor. You don't get any certification meaning that if you want to dive again you have to go through the process again.
2- Open Water Course : takes 3 or 4 days. 1 or 2 days of theory and swimming pool - 2 days at sea with 2 dives to 12 meters max the first day and 2 dives to 18 meters max the second day. At the end of the course you are and Open Water qualified diver and are allowed to dive to a max depth of 18 meters anywhere in the world.
You can save one day by doign the theory on line on the PADI web site before arriving. In which case, you would only have to do the swimming pool session + the open water dives at sea with us.
If for any reason you can't complete the course, you can also stop it after the first 2 dives at sea and get a Scuba Diver certification (allows you to dive at a max depth of 12 Meters under supervision of an instructor) or you get a referral that states all the completed steps and you have 1 year to complete the course, anywhere iin the world, with a PADI instructor.
Hope this helps.
Feel free to ask any further questions.
Best regards
Sabrina & the Odyssea Dive team
