TripAdvisor reviews guided my husband and me to this terrific state park. We started our day with a quick walk from the lower parking lot to the waterfall. We weren't the only ones there, but the sun was shining and the sun sparkled through that...More

Well worth the $10 per car price of price of admission. The trails are well marked in the park. The lake is beautiful with lots of majestic cliff views. Very clean.

Hiked to Peters Kill Falls on Sept. 1st. It was a beautiful day for a hike. Bonus was, there was nobody in the booth to collect the $10 per car load to park to do the hike. There are paths to hike to the falls...More

Climbing the road to Minnewaska, a state park in the middle of the Shawgunk Mountains, one is reminded of the switchback and horseshoe turns more closely associated with the Sierras. A 30-minute drive from the pleasant town of New Paltz and you will find yourself...More

This park is particularly good for bike riding and long walks. Both activities are made easy by the wide carriage roads, which are relatively flat. Go to Lake Awosting if you have time. Lake Minnewaska is lovely but often crowded. Awosting is not, nor is...More

There are a number of steep drop-offs, but unless you have actively suicidal dogs it won't be a problem. The trails are definitely wide enough to stay away from the cliffs.
