Boat ride always fun, + nice nature, + old churches, + nice guide

As said, I am always in for a boat ride. Visited multiple islands with small village, nice old churches and jungle-like nature. Had a great day.

Visiting the monasteries on the lake is awsome, those places are amazing, it's quite fun to get in and out of the boat....3 to 5 monasteries are enough, you have to pay 100 birrs to enter each time, and to tip (50 birrs) the guide.

A relaxing cruise on this quiet lake in the late afternoon and pay a visit or two to the quaint monastries on the little islands on the lake then round up the trip to its outket Estuaries to spot a few Hippopotamus and birds as the sunset is definitely my kind of cool African experience! Hope you like it too!

I and my school friends made the historical route tour, with organization of our school Lion Ethiopia College; our stay in Bahir Dar was nice especially in the Lake Tana Boot trip.

I observed hippos and moved across the lake to visit the peninsula across the pond. My guide, Teme, was professional and knowledgeable. I had a wonderful time. Lake Tana can be romantic and is certainly memorable.

So much to do here, something for every one, nature, wildlife. Something for all - families, young and old. Hippos, Fisher Eagles, Pelicans, Cormorants. Loads of history - Monasteries Locals people. Fascinating.

Take a short boat ride (1hour) across to some of the islands and visit some of the monasteries. The art work is breathtaking and really worth a visit. The churches are still active as well. Make this something you do in Bahir Dar!

The weather was good and the lake nice and calm. Ideal conditions as we were on the boat for about six hours with a couple of stops on the way to see some interesting churches. Sailed for three hours passing various islands and stopped to see the 18th century church of Narga Salassie which is one of the most beautifully... More

Lake Tana, Ethiopia's biggest, and the source of the longest river on the globe, is a great place to learn about Ethiopia's unique and beautiful church wall paintings dating back to the 16th Century AD. If you have at least half a day in Bahir Dar, take a boat for about 45 minutes ride and visit the old, beautiful and... More
