The walk to get to the cave is like a trip through a prehistoric tortoise garden. They love being scratched, and actively seek out the adoration of those visiting their scenic homes. The actual cave is the best preserved we've seen in Rodrigues, and the...More

Only guided visit allowed but plenty of interaction . Do the tortoise canyon plus the caves if you are able as there is easily 1.5 hours of walking on uneven grounds. Lively place for sure we enjoyed it. The guide was knowledgeable and very funny.

Do not miss this sanctuary if you're on Rogrigues. It's really special wandering around, surrounded by these friendly giant tortoises. They follow you around like puppies, and demand you stroke their necks.
