It had some challenges yet definitely do-able. We loved this hike. Not too long, not too short. Perfect day for a 3.0 round-trip hike. I would do this one every weekend - if we lived there.

We climbed Mt Jo easily and found the views to be wonderful. Heart Lake is picturesque and you can see several other mountains that will then inspire you to climb other mountains in the High Peaks. Can't wait to go back!

Close to ADK LOJ and easy to hike... well worn paths but quite tourist-y. Good views from the top; not difficult to hike.

Tricky hike required spikes instead of snow shoes due to quick thaw and ice over-an exciting challenge, worth the fright factor when you reached the summit. Hiked it in fall as well but not quite as challenging

When I saw that Mount Jo was one of the top things to do in Lake Placid I assumed it would have appealed to the masses. At 57 and 64 years old we made it to the top but couldn’t be sure that many of...More

Mount Jo was sold to me (an avid indoorswoman, lol) as an "easy" hike. It may be to people who do a lot of hiking, but I found it pretty challenging. That said, it was a very pretty spot, easy to get to (right on...More

Great little hike we took the short trail up and long trail down. We were there about 2 1/2 hours. Had a beautiful late October day we were super lucky. Would recommend this hike.

My wife and I are not traditional hikers, but love being outdoors. This hike was amazing and offered just enough mountain hiking without any technical skill or having to scale a mountain rock more than 4-6 feet high on the way up. The view at...More

Several people recommended this hike to me for my first time in the Adirondacks. It did not disappoint. We took the long trail up and down, and we thought it was pretty tough - you really have to watch every step you take across boulders/tree...More

I would say there's a few different routes if you want to spend all day there or even a few hours. We did the shortest trek and I'd say it about 4 miles and it took us all day because of the incline. If you're an... More
