my old trout and salmon fishing spot is at the bottom off the devil's hole trail. site derives it's name from a small cave on the trail. at this spot a small battle was fought during the french and indiann war. Cool reading for history nerds like me. but the real attraction is at he bottom. you can walk for... More

Great gorge and lower river views! If you plan to walk the trail down to the Niagara River, make sure you allow enough time to take breaks each way, but especially on the way back up. It is a longer walk than it looks from the top. Experienced hikers can do this and have fun in a couple to few... More

We hiked this trail with our 3 kids (11, 8 and 5). You have to climb down LOTS of steep stairs to get down to the trail (like 350 steps or something) and then guess what - you have to climb back up to return. If you are still in then you can keep reading. Once you get down the... More

This park has a lot to offer. It is well laid out with great trails, scenic overlooks and a wonderful visitors centre. Wear comfortable shoes and do not forget your camera.

Devil's Hole is great for hiking. It's an average strenuous level of hiking. The scenery is beautiful. Great for trail running. If you are visiting the falls definitely check out Devil's Hole.

This was just amazing. Breath taking close up views of the rapids. There are steep steps that take you to trail and you have to climb them on the return trip. The hiking trail has some tough areas to get thru but it's well worth the trip. I would plan on at least an hour each way. Take water and... More

I'm a native to the area, and pretty much hike devils hole on the reg. This is a perfect hike if you want to just get out and be in nature, see the gorge/whirlpools (its not a super long trail) The hike will start on the left, you will see the sign for devils hole trail, yes the "stairs" are... It's a beautiful place to hike. We loved visiting in Autumn and look forward to visiting in other seasons as well. You should be careful if you have small children and if you're not really steady on your feet if you do the hike.

We did not plan this part of the trip but decided to take a ride before heading home and this was an experience I will surely never forget. Worth the short drive from the falls.

history is really neat- read up on it before you go. here is a clue: it is legend that the hole is a portal to the spirit world. a former president and indian chief had a chance meeting there.....
